1.
Two words: Bass Gallery Go there instead - it's fantastoc. I gave up on the Bass Centre long ago - to my eyes it seems little more than a Warwick warehouse.... M+1
Good old fashioned service, great to deal with over the phone or on line..... never met the guys as I live up North.
 2. Sadowsky 24fr modern 5 Status Stealth II 5 Rick Turner fretless 5 There seems to be plenty of amp/ cab choices already.
 3. Sounds like a good idea Count me in too guys.
 4.
The Bacchus down on Henley Beach here in Adelaide (again). Gig was a good one, guit4ri5t used his new Fender Vibrolux for the very 1st time and sounded like a cross between fantastic and some clown turning knobs trying to find a half decent sound. Warm evening sunset in the west directly over the sea. Lots of people enjoying themselves, free beer, good pay. Sweeeet.
Sounds pretty good to me (I lived in a Hostel in Adelaide before moving to Whyalla in 1967), so I can just picture the scene. AND free beer
 5. For me there's nothing quite like bouncing off other musicians in a band. Especially those moments of telepathy, when the drummer executes a tasty spontaneuos fill with your bass run.
 6.
However the majority of the classic Japan Fretless sound is from a Travis Bean TB2000 I saw Duran Duran live in a smallish venue at the time the Planet Earth single was in the charts and the bass parts were definitely being played by JT. I think Nick would have been the one with less than stellar music skills but I don't think he's ever claimed otherwise.
Thanks for that, but either will do ....his unique sound and feel made him stand out when I think about it. I think the Wal was used from 1981..ish ?
 7.
Mick Karn. No further questions y'honor
Exactly, choosing the Wal bass wasn't a bad idea either.

 9. I also have a 550, currently using with 2x12 cab at 4 ohms, great amps.
 10.
It's a 1.4k output head with a valve pre-amp I think. Haven't read about prices yet. Hamster
Cheers for that, I know that It will be top end price wise. Also It only goes down to 4 ohms, unlike the WT 550 I believe.
 11. Hi All Is anyone else looking forward to the imminent Eden Rocco Prestia signature head ? To be launched some time this month I believe. Does anybody have any info?

 13. Sorry to hear that, all the best for the future, I can't make it due to my location. Have a good one and by the way... loving the status. Cheers Cameron
 14. Mmmm.... nice looking rig. Will you be playing any where near the cobbled streets of lancs any time soon? I would love to have a listen!
 15.
Hi guys and gals, Just wondered what years were good years for Fender during the 70's? I'm going to save up for an old Fender. I've seen a '78 Precision that's in awesome condition, played it and it's sweet, but didn't know if the late 70's ones were any good or not? Ideally i'd like a Precision with a Jazz pickup in the bridge and a Jazz neck (block inlays)...but the P/J pickup thing is the most important!!! Any advice on what years would be good for both Jazzes and Precisions, i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks Jamie
+1 for try before you buy as they all feel slightly different. I have just weighed my precisions on the bathroom scales, the 74 came in at 9lb 2, and 76 was 8lb 6oz. I am not an expert by any means but i find the neck on the 76 more comfortable.
 16.
Thank you owen, and pardon my response but the first 3 or 4 times people posted light-hearted comments teasing me about how much gear I go through, I thought it was funny. The next 150 or so times, it was starting to get boring and lately all I want to do is track irritants down and break their legs. I do go through a lot a gear but so do a lot of other people who remain quiet and keep their heads down. I don't have 20 basses like some people, I don't have exotic trophy basses gathering dust in the bedroom and I don't have a Precision for each day of the week. I'm in a busy band and new to bass and yes, I keep making mistakes when buying stuff. I am learning about gear but I think I'm getting close to having what I like and need but I would love someone to explain to me why, I (and it seems like only me) have to endure these little digs every time I sell something?
I think we are all entitled to be miffed if folks criticise how we spend our hard earned cash. Having the balls to admit a mistake and move on quickly before too much depreciation seems to make sense to me. Also posting these gear changes/ improvements helps us all to make more informed decisions. By the way I'm keeping my head down for now!!! Cheers Al
 17. You are welcome, I think bands are on Thursdays and Saturdays. I have PM'd you his mobile number. Good luck!!
 18.
I want some lessons , Covering various styles like Metal , Jazz , Reggea and everything else Would like to get into tapping and abit of slap And might also want to learn to read , but that would be in the future I live in Leigh , dont really wanna travel to far but i can get to manchester and basically anywhere thats a busride away~ Get in touch Hanson
I have an idea that may help, try speaking to Ken the landlord at the Boars Head music pub in Leigh ( former landlord at the Musketeer pub) He has the best bands in your area, bass players like Simon from Skeleton Crew etc. I am sure he could point you in the right direction. Just mention Cameron from Slingshot put you in touch. Hope this helps. Cameron
 19.
Gigs aren't what they used to be, half empty pubs / disinterested punters / venues disappearing / sound limiters and whinging neighbours. I can see the writing on the wall with the band too - never rehearse / no new songs / no communication between gigs etc etc and I've always said that when this band goes pear shaped, that's it. I don't think I'd have the stomach to start again with another band. Sad but true.
Going through a similar dilema at the moment Alan due to a personal problem with one of my band members. I have worked hard to get suitable gigs and had to cancel months of bookings. So I know how you feel, hang on in there, you never know what may turn up.
 20. It makes me happy when someone passes a compliment on my band's performance, as i work hard on my contribution. Whilst I have respect for players who wish to advance to a higher level individually, it's not what drives me personally.
 21. Other...Sadowsky NYC 24fr 5 string. ( main bass )
 22. Johnny B Gayden, monster player in the blues genre. Probably best known for his work with Albert Collins. Also Gerry McAvoy, please note bass guitar magazine editors!!!
