@FinnDave has mentioned weight being a consideration so I think, despite my agreement that the LH series are a great option for simplicity and power, they aren't the right option for weight.
Very true. In my defence, I mentioned the LH500 before the OP raised the weight issue
eta...I've just looked up the weight - 10.5Kg. That's the same as the Handbox R400 which is described as lightweight...

Not everybody's cup of tea, but I've used a Hartke LH500 for several years now and felt no urge to change.

You're just down the road from me. Local rehearsal places that I've used are Soundarc in Shefford, London Rd in Baldock & The Pratice Roomz in Stevenage.
I've not used him myself, but I know folks that speak well of Terry Chapman - TJC Guitars, in Stevenage.
Pre Covid there was a healthy live music scene in Stevenage anb Baldock (Google Balstock)

Or if the two outputs were from two separate power amps.
Have I travelled back in time, to May 19th...?

Lots of bands/artists that I don't care for and wouldn't, through choice, listen to. But hate... ?

I think you're being over-protective of the term 'engineer'.
Thank you thank you thank you.

I've never heard of capacitance in cables being an issue but i'm open to any theoretical explanations to help me understand.
Where does the capacitance come in. i.e. across the cores or core to earth ?
Dave
Whoops.. with instrument cables in mind, I replied in a more general context, rather than speaker cables specifically as per this discussion.
My bad...

In my mind different materials will only create a difference in resistance
Other characteristics are also influenced by the choice of materials and constructions. Capactance, for example, which can noticeably change how the higher frequencies are reproduced.

I've just seen a post on our village Facebook page, along the lines of "does anybody recognise this front door, 'cause that's where DPD have left my package but it's not my front door".
I think they're all a bit carp from time to time.
I've never had a problem with Hermes...

I don't mean to go off at a tangent, but if you're new to buying PA gear then please please pretty please
DON'T BUY NEW!
Few things go down in value quite as much or as quickly as low to mid-range PA gear, and the best way to find out what you really need is to buy a simple system, try it, and work out what (if anything) is lacking.
I just did a quick'n'dirty search on eBay for "PA system" + Used + Buy It Now + UK Only.
If I set the Budget at "Up to £200" I get 370 results, and whilst much of it is dross there's at least a hundred rigs there that I'd be happy to gig with as my first rig.
A previous (loud rock) band gigged pubs & clubs for years with a small Yamaha EMX powered mixer and a pair of Yamaha passive tops, all bought used with the initial intentention of getting something better further down the road. Apart from adding a monitor, we never felt the need to change...

With cabs of the same impedence, the output will be split equally between the two.

Me neither. And I'd no idea what a meme is/was, so I looked it up thinking all would become clear. It didn't...

I had my Acoustic amp go up in smoke many (30-odd) years ago. No backup. Tiny vocal-only 'PA'. End of gig.
I've always carried a backup since, and never needed it.
Which probably doesn't help...

No. I've barely picked up any instrument, since April last year.
The same here.

FWIW...I use a BB1024 into a Zoom B3, and don't have this - or any other - problem.

I think the problem with the pubs was the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme.
I did that quite a bit, and every time it was extremely well done. Felt much safer, to me, than my weekly shopping trip.

Define best?
I love my Compact, but I'm sure it wouldn't suit everybody. It doesn't have a HF driver or tweeter, for example.
-
Yes. 4 Ohms is the minimum. More than 4 is fine - just won't put out full power, probably 170 or so into an 8 Ohm load.

I had a flu jab on Saturday at a local health centre and with all the COVID measures it took 55mins from joining the queue that ran 200m down the street outside to getting the injection.
It was well organised, so no complaints, but it made me think about how difficult it is going to be to vaccinate almost the entire population. It is a truly immense task.
I had my first ever flu jab on friday. In and out in 10 minutes, and half of that time was just waiting for a few minutes afterwards in case I had a reaction to it.

Simple, powerful amplifier recommendations

I must admit (and this isn't aimed at anybody in particular) I do find some attitudes to weight a bit puzzling. My previous cab setup must have weighed in at somewhere around 50 Kg, I'd guess.
When I swapped it for my current BF 1x15 Compact, it was truly a game-changer. A single cab solution, at ~11.5 Kg. Yet the thought of "lugging" an amp of the same weight is a no-no, despite an amp being a far easier carry than any cab. IMO.
Each to his own, eh ?
