Are we going to have Basschat lanyards with our BC names and our real names on them? It's a good Bass Bash practice to break the ice. Mine reads " Oh, No. Not that Twunt again."

My roadie is coming too, well, my wife. @seashell, she's looking forward to seeing you again.

Rory Gallagher, John Lennon, Freddy Mercury, Chris Squires, David Bowie and Greg Lake. They all made such an impact on my life.

I'm going to donate a new set of Chromes to the raffle. I managed to screw up an order and bought 2 sets by mistake.

Got the day ticket from Mrs Skinny so I’ll see you all there.
I’m trying to decide whether to bring anything to The Bash other than myself.....
I could bring the Dingwall Super P that I currently have up for sale? Or a Rickenbacker to annoy Teebs. Or the little Gretsch which will fit in the car easier.
A Barefaced One10 if anyone is interested in just how much noise something so small can make (those with a child under five will already know the volume that tiny things can make but for the rest of us...)
And a Genzler Magellan 800 just to make sure I can keep up with the neighbours....
Oh, and a PAT tested extension lead (good call, Andy)
.
Please bring the Rick, I haven't played one for around 40 years.

What? Vote Conservative? Argh!
PS: You are right of course. JM jumping EC's bones was an exceptionally dull image to conjure up. A bit like watching tortoises hump.
I love Slo-mo.

I use Premier Inn a lot. If you book in advance, they are not too bad and the rooms are a decent size.

It feels nice as it is and I'll be using flats. If I was going to use rounds, I'd have it lacquered.

My first self built bass. I bought a fretless neck and a loaded body from here and sourced the other bits from ebay. Finally got around to building it today but made a school boy error. I forgot to buy the strings. Our own Gary Mac is doing the honours so I should be up and running next weekend. I've not played fretless since the '70's so it will be interesting to so how it goes. Anyway, there's the picture.

Of course, with it's sister I think...
Scratching my head to remember all the basses you brought to the last bass bash. I can remember the ACGs.

Way too cryptic for little ol' me?
Here's a clue: A limited edition 4-string from a US manufacturer that's not Fender. Not in the shops quite yet.
I hope you're going to bring it along to the next NW Bass Bash, when ever that may be.

Happy ending (not that sort of happy ending you pervs). BD have responded to my original email from a month ago following the manufacturer's intervention, bass reserved and deposit paid.
Ok, spill the beans. What have you ordered?

OK - I'll start off the raffle prizes. I will contribute this:
A number of you have already seen it at previous bass bashes and - until the website wiped all of the avatars - this was my avatar since joining Basschat, so it's only fitting
It's a Squier Jaguar - the original full scale version. Great to play; hmmm...Seymour Duncan 'designed' p/ups - not the most exciting but eminently upgradable; passive electrics; stacked volume tone for each pup; D'addario Chromes; one of my early veneering jobs; remodelled scratchplate covered in automotive-go-faster-carbon-fibre matting; natural sides and back:
Andy
Wow, that's very generous of you Andy. Well done.

That is stunning.

Stunning work Andy, I'm looking forward to Fleabag's review.

Big fan of the G man back in the day...still am but don't play his stuff much.....this has prompted me to get his albums out again.
My first ever proper gig I went to was at the age of 14/15 was to see Rory at Birmingham Town Hall around 1972. I hadn't a clue who he was but my sister and her school mates were going and there was spare ticket. The support was Greenslade (remember them?) who were not my cup of tea, but even tho I hardly knew any of the songs, Rory blew me away with his passion and energy and of course his playing. He was on for ages, seemed like 3 hours and at the end, the stage manager kept coming out to get him to stop playing and Rory would play another song - talk about delivering value for money. I've seen him twice since, once at De Montfort hall in Leicester and the last time at the Hammersmith Odeon in about 1978. As always he played a blinding set and by this time I knew all the songs and all the words...a truly memorable experience.
I've not read Gerry's book....I would imagine that Rory was hard work in the latter years when the alcohol abuse was ramping up. Some of the recordings I've listened to of gigs he did at Rockpalast, you can hear in his voice that he's out of his head....such a shame. I was so gutted when I heard he'd died, what a modest, unassuming and talented guitarist and songwriter he was.
I total agree. I was gutted to hear of his passing. At the time, I had no idea of his problems with the booze. Tragic really.

If only I had the cash, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Have a bump on me Bob.

One thing always sadly sticks in my mind - that he had an 'encounter' with Anita Dobson, before she was Mrs. May! Wish I really could forget that fact every time I see her on the TV!
And look at the mess she made of Brexit.

I was lucky enough to see Rory live 12 times. Gerry never missed a beat. It was always a great night out.
