Anyone know where I can buy Labella 'Deep Talkin' flat wounds?
Iv had a look on-line and the only ones I can find are like £50+!

  2.
Of course! That's what doesn't look quite right (and by not quite right I mean better) I seem to remember that the original Yammy bridge on this wasn't a brilliant piece of kit, very low mass.
So I have heard luckily this came with the bass but I would of bought one if it didn't anyway lol.
Everything else on it is very high quality, sounds damn good!

  3.
Nice. Are you going to do the proposed upgrades from your other thread on this?
None needed really the BB already had a Gotoh Bridge fitted and its amazing,
The only thing I might do to both basses is fit some flats too them.

That's all that needs doing at the moment really.

On the right, BB1200 from 1981 (I'm reliably informed).

    Bex 4 now sold
Oh nice! how does that BB1200 play?

  5. Today I have received one of my most favourite basses..the Yamaha BB414 which i bought from Bidd (massive respect to him and great seller!)
I have been wanting one of these beauties for a long time now and for the price i personally don't think anything will beat it!

I am so proud of it that I thought I would post a few pics of it up =]

  6.
Which is a shame because of this beauty...and that headstock.

    Wow....iv just had a crisis.
That's a very handsome looking piece of wood!

*edit* apart from that headstock which looks way to small for the bass!

  7. Bought his BB414 from him,
Great guy to deal with made it really easy for me.

Arrived very quickly and in great condition barely a mark on it!
Amazing for the price very chuffed with my buy =]

Would happily deal with him again.

    5*

  8.
See...........it pays to try all price ranges in the shops.Brand snobbery can be an expensive waste of cash, especially if you're looking for something as basic as a P or J type bass.
Yea iv never really been into buying the really high end makes I gota be honest i don't like the looks of most of the really top end brands I think they are trying to hard to be better if you get me?
I like brands that are a bit unseemly and are quite cheap but are able to kick the big brands in the nuts with their quality and sounds and upgradability (I know its not a word but it is now! =P).

  9.
Ok - cannot see an answer to this on doing a forum search - and I'd be very interested in the views of others.

I have a 14 year old son who plays a Yamaha RBX 170, but is ready to move on. Playing a mix of stuff, and needs a bass with a wide tonal range, relatively narrow finger board, yet is active and slappable.

Probable get quite a lot more s/h I guess.

He has a brilliant PRS SE 6 string guitar - and I guess he might be looking for the equivalent in basses, a high quality instrument at the bottom end of the range of a great maker. And he doesn't need a 5 string, or a fretless (because he can borrow mine...!)
Yamaha basses are amazing the Yamaha RBX A2 has amazing tonal range and can be used for any style of playing.
    RBX A2

For the price its an amazing bass, plus it has lights in it =D

  10.
I had a 375 & thought the pups were pretty d*mn good.

    G.
Yeh i dont like 5 strings but i have been very very tempted to get the 375 since i love my 374 so much.

  11.
Not entirely sure about the model, but I think of her as a 'CBS' as she came from a Car Boot Sale. My dad found her one sunday morning and brought her home, not sure what he paid, but she was in pretty bad shape before Mark worked his magic so it wouldn't have been a whole lot.
Sounds a bit like the beginning of a love story :)

  12.
Here's my JD'P'. Although she's not been 'modded' as such, she has benefitted from a full set up by our very own 7string and she's not bad at all..! IIRC there's a '96 stamp on the heel and a '97 stamp in the neck pocket (or vice versa)

    More pics here - http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/kin...con%20P%20Bass/

Pity you weren't closer, 4SF, as she's kinda excess to requirements right now... :)
That's annoying! it looks such a nice bass too!
What model is that? plus how much did you pay for it?

If you can guide me to any sites selling that bass I would love you for ever and ever =]

  13.
Nothing wrong with the bridge on a 374, it's a lovely big diecast slab like job, not a bit of bent tin like a Fender or a Squier, I should know I have a VMJ and Fender P bass

To be honest I wouldn't spend too much money on it, if any, you may be dissapointed with the results, the std hardware is real sweet....good tuners the finish on them is sublime and mine simply refused to go out of tune, ohh and they have some very hot pups std, with good range EQ...unless you go to TRB or high end BB you may not notice the difference for pound per tone.

...as I said if you a change 'slap' a set of those EB flats on it....they have a real smooooooooooth silky feeling and make the tone much like an 'old' P bass...or dare I say less Hi-Fi...the RBX can sound a little 'bright' with those std D'Addario Blue strings, but, amazingly you can still slap them EB's, if you crank up the treble and put the pan pot over onto the bridge pup you can get some great sounds out of them.

....see you have a BB414 too, good choice of basses you have there... :)
Thanks for the advice yea im really happy with my 374 sounds great =]
Im currently running some Elites Stadiums on it which I gota be honest I love!
But iv always been a fan of Flats like to play with either a warm smooth sound or a warm punchy sound so i would of thought Flats would be the best for that.

How much are the EB Flats? And also im wondering what strings to put on my BB414 any suggestions?

And yea I love Yamaha basses like my RBX doesnt feel like A bass it feels like MY bass if I could have a custom made bass that would be it basically =]

And yea I have the Red Metallic finish on my RBX, I would love to personalise it i just dont know what I would do! lol.

Also thanks for the +1 janmaat =]

  14.
I have a JD Stingray thing, looks good, passive, plays really well, sounds ok,and the neck is very stable.I have tried a couple of P type JD's and really liked them.I think they retail new for £135 ish, certainly better than the cheaper Squiers IMO,and the ones that i have seen recently still have the correct headstock shape.
What are they like when upgraded?
Do you get the same results as an SX and stuff?

  15. I have noticed that there are quite a few people on here that are very much into SX Basses.
I currently own a SX Acoustic bass and i couldnt ask for anything better!.

But i am looking for a P-bass and SX have been a brand i have been looking at alot.

Can you still only buy them from the US? Or is there any dealers over here?

Plus if anybody successfully modded an SX P-bass what were the results like?
