There's also Chandler Guitars at Kew and Charlie Chandler at Hampton Wick.

Second shout out for Chandler Guitars at Kew. Does a great job with all my work and is very reasonable. Ask for Andy.

Also, local resident parking control finishes after 12pm so good time to go in the afternoon:)

  2. As I've been doing a bit of work on these over the holiday period, I decided to get them together for a Jazz family pic.

    ( Left to right)

    MIJ 85/86 Unlined Fretless
Good substitute for the double bass tone rather than a usual fretless 'mwah'.

    04/05 Marcus Miller in sunburst
Fitted with the East Marcus Retro 01. Great sound and has been my main gigging bass until.....

    All original 1976 in natural.
Just love the sound of this one. Pure funk and pretty light for a 70's fender (under 10lb)

1999 Fender 'Mark king' Jazz (limited run of 42)
This one has seen some action prior to me getting it and is probably the least well made of all of them but good fun to use as my 'encore' bass at big gigs.

    Fender Kingman Acoustic
It's been used for noodling at home.

  3. Echo the comments about getting some pics. Take as many as possible (headstock (front and back), bridge, pots (if poss), neck plate, etc
Post them up here and I'm sure we can provide some comment.

If the seller is familiar with the pricing on Andy's site then he should also be aware that he provides many photos of the bass. The last one I bought had nearly 100 pics for me to check out.
    Cheers,
    Jim

    is the dynaverb true bypass?
    [/quote]

    Hi,

This was purchased just before 2008. Since 2008, they have marketed this pedal as 'True Bypass' (which is written on the front casing).
I'm not sure of the specific bypass technology on this model but I do know that EBS has always had a strong reputation for how they bypass the signal.
    Cheers,

  5. Hi All,

Up for grabs is my Ibanez Gary Willis GWB35 fretless bass in matt black.
I've decided to stick to 4 strings hence letting this one go.

    Here's the background;
I originally bought this blind and when I received it, it did require some work. It had roundwounds on it which I immediately changed to flats. No major issues there but if you look very closely, you can still see some very minor marks where they have been used at some point. This doesn't affect playability.

There was a cover missing on the back of one of the tunings keys. I've had this replaced and again, you need to look twice to see the difference.

Finally, I wasn't happy with the pots when I got it, so I had them both replaced using the original control knobs.

Apart from a couple of minor marks on the body, its in good condition (now) and is a great fretless.

I will try and find a gigbag for it.

    Price is £SOLD and I'm based near J13 M25.

Amazing instruments - I've toyed with selling mine before in moments of desperation, but it's the one bass that has always been in my collection - and always will be.

The neck is absolutely lovely to play. Good luck with the sale.

    Cheers Chris.

  7. A couple of minor ones every so often. My excuse is that they happen as I'm leading a 7 piece band and whenever we get a new drummer (we do seem to be going through a Spinal Tap situation at the moment) I'm trying to listen to everyone and sometimes forget myself.
Oh, to turn up as just the bass player and just play.

Saying that, a couple of gigs ago, I did a complete blank on one song as if I've never heard it before. Totally lost from my short term memory.

  8. I originally bought this as something to play at home. Basically, it sits there and I get it down for the occasional dust but then sits there again.

Therefore, it's up for sale at £200.
It's in immaculate condition and has a built in tuner and a lovely Jazz neck.

There is no case or box so ideally looking for collection or local meet near J13 M25 area.
    Cheers,
    Jim

(i've tried uploading pics but its not playing ball tonight so in the meantime, here's a link to a website with a picture on it.)
