1. I am now just using my two Jazz basses for everything and so I am moving on a few things that are lovely but not used.

Next up is a custom 1994 Status Series II all-graphite bass with Blue LEDs.
I have had this bass for just over a year and bought it from the original owner. Here is the information that was passed onto me by him.

Bought in 1994, this is an all graphite body and thru neck Series II Status bass. In 2008, it had blue LEDs fitted into the neck by SIMS and in 2009, the neck p/u and pan pot was replaced by Rob at Status.

Whilst I have only used it for a few gigs, it has seen some action over the years and whilst there is no major issues, it does have a number of dings and scractches on the edge of the body and a couple of the edges of the fingerboard. (none of these have affected the playing of the bass and I've tried to capture them all in the photos).

It comes with a fitted metal hardcase.

This is a real stunning bass and can produce a beefy tone as known by Status basses.

Ideally, I'm looking for SOLD collected from near J13 M25 or I can meet within reason.
Any questions, just let me know

2. Well, I think my sunburst MM Jazz is worth every penny but I do admit to it being one of the most fluctuating prices (new and used) over the past few years. I upgraded the preamp to a John East Marcus Retro which I'm really pleased with. So much so that I decided to sell my Olympic White one which I had a Bartolini TCT (the one that Marcus has installed). Pricing has been difficult to judge but I've advertised it for £795 so we will see how the market accepts that.????.

Saying that, I paid the same price for my current used MM (bought last year) as I did for my first (new) ash one in 2009

I don't think it's a Series II or a newer S2 Classic. It could be a Matrix but it has humbuckers and 4 knobs. It could be a Series 1 Matrix with a custom circuit out of an Empathy, or a custom all-graphite Empathy.

I think it could be some kind of custom spec based on the Matrix but with Empathy preamp and pickups.

Edit: Do you have any pics of the neck joint? Is it a single moulding like an S2000 or a set neck?

Thanks for all the input.
Struggling to attach a piccie in a reply, but in the meantime, I did find this Series II on ebay and it looks like mine (shape, controls, headstock)

So, here's my latest arrival.
I'm reliably informed that it's a 1994 Series II - Graphite body, Blue Sims LEDS.
Taking it to rehearsals tomorrow night for a good blast. I doubt it will replace the Miller Jazz as my main bass but not bad for a back up and encore bass!

Question for all you Status experts.
When I originally posted these pictures, there was some debate as to whether this was a Series II as it had been sold to me or that it was possibly a Matrix body.
As I coming to the decision to possibly move it on, I just wanted to make sure that I sold it on correctly.
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks,
Jim

your not the only one Jim.. my sister has always loved Bluey since the days of the warriors back in the late 70's.. do you remember that collaboration? when 'jazz funk' came out, it was a revelation.. your right.. his music always sounds fresh...
I've got the lot. Warriors, Light of the World, etc. I was only 12 at the time but I remember playing my cassette of the album 'Jazz Funk' endlessly.
I finally met the guy last year and what a thoroughly decent chap he is.

Trades? :)

Sorry, not looking for trades at the moment

Hey Jim, really surprised you are selling this. I remember you saying that you loved this bass and how amazing it is. I thought you would never part with it. You have your eye on something else?

I'm still keeping hold of my sunburst Marcus Jazz which I have the John East Retro preamp installed on. Both are great basses but I've decided to keep hold of the East preamp as it's got just a bit more versatility with the mid boost/cut and the passive tone. Having two MM Jazz's just seemed excessive.

How is the Status, you still have that ;)
Yep, still looking all carbon and lighty uppy.If only I had the skill to go with it :)

Have a bump on me for a lovely bass. Oh and if anyone wants this, Jim is a great guy and true to his word.

great bass with at least one active thread on Items Wanted. I have the natural but think the white is the best MM.

Thanks. I already checked with the member on the wanted thread.

7. Hi,

Up for grabs is my 2009 Fender Marcus Miller Jazz Bass in Olympic White. Excellent condition with only a couple of minor surface marks (they don't really show up in the photos).

What makes this one slightly special is that I managed to track down a 2 Band Bartolini TCT preamp which is no longer made and which I understand is the same preamp installed on Mr. Millers '76 Jazz by Roger Sadowsky. This really gives it some ooomph.

It's currently strung with signature DR 45-105 and I also have the original preamp and the neck p/u cover/screws although I currently do not have a gig bag or any packaging at the moment so ideally looking for a close meet or pickup. I'm based near J13 M25 near Heathrow.

Price is £795.

More photos to follow.

Personally, I love these active MIJ basses and I'm actually keeping my other sunburst MM Jazz as I need the option of the passive tone control provided by the East Marcus Retro.

Any questions, just ask.
Cheers,
Jim

I developed acute appendicitis during a gig and was rushed to hospital later that night. Gigwise, I made it through to the second set but was in so much pain that i had to get home. I told the band who could see i was in a bit of distress - someone suggested some paracetemol . The guys kindly loaded my cab into the back of my car but they didn't put it the right way round. On slamming the boot shut the back window shattered falling inside over the cab :( . I didn't care and drove home and then later to hospital to have the bugger whipped out.

Blimey, I'm feeling better already after reading that little lot!

9. For the first time ever this evening, I suddenly noticed that I felt really c**p during our first set.
Sweats, feeling faint, etc and I started to mildly panic as to what song we were playing and the fact that I appeared to be heading downhill fast.
The sense of feeling looking out at all these faces whilst realising I was starting to feel really unwell and with very little option to escape was bloody horrible.

Anybody else felt the fear of losing it during a gig due to illness ( not self induced of course).

As it happened, I made it through to the break and then picked up again during the second set only for a singer to do exactly the same. Despite all this, we managed to get a repeat booking so probably worse for us than for the crowd.

10. Hi All,

For all you Jazz funk fans.

I used to love listening to this guy when I first got into bass during his time with Light of the World and then onto Incognito during the whole 'Jazz Funk' era.

Anyway, I was pleased to see that Bluey has just managed to get what was going to be Incognito's 2nd Album released - albeit 30 years later!

It's called Behind The Mask' by The Warriors (due to the sound being different from the original Incognito album, they decided to change the band name to reflect this harder rock sound). It does sound dated in places but well worth a listen to hear the late 'Tubbs' playing some sublime bass.

Cheers,
Jim

11. Now SOLD Pending,

Hi,

Up for grabs is my Fender CIJ 62 RI lined Fretless bass which I've had for about a year after purchasing it from Linus27.
I've really enjoyed it but I think I'm going to take the plunge and try a 5 string fretless (probably a GWB35) so this is now up for sale.

I understand that it dates between 2002-2004 with an alder body, vintage reverse tuners and US vintage pickups. Apart from a couple of small marks (see photos) this is in excellent condition.

I'll sort out a basic gigbag for it for those that are interested.
Price is £400 (+ paypal fees if used) and I'm based nr J13 M25.

Really after a straight sale unless anyone has a Ibanez GWB35 that they fancy trading?
