1.
Me again, how do they differ from a Fender Jazz?
Is it the sound or build quality or maybe the playability?

Damn it I wasn't going to buy any more bass's :)
Well this is always a subjective thing but personally, I would say that the physical aspects (a great neck and a slightly smaller, more contoured Jazz Body) make it a bass that you really want to pick up and play. As for the sound, I would say that the combination of the Aero pick ups and J east Retro preamp make this a bright sounding Jazz. I've used this in my covers band as it gives you the versatility to have a Jazz sound but you can add a little rockier edge to it when required.
Others may have more A/B experience with this and other Jazz basses but all I know is that I'm still keeping my other one as my main Jazz Bass 'cause it sounds so good and it makes me play more bass. As for build quality, I've never found Lakland lacking in any area.

Go on, you know it makes sense

Rip that 50c pre-amp out and install an Aguilar OBP1
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but is the general concencus that the Aguilar Pre-amp is best for a MM Jazz ?
Keen to hear comments.
thanks,

3. Hi,

Here's the bass that converted me to Lakland.
It's a 2006 Lakland DJ4 in Lake Placid Blue with maple block neck, Aero pick ups and it has the J East retro installed. I bought this from OBBM last summer and enjoyed it so much that I bought another one in a Natural finish which is the one that I'm keeping.
It has a white pearl finish scratchplate fitted but it will also come with the original matt white one and it comes in a GTI hardcase.
Excellent condition apart from the chip on the top of the headstock which I understand was accidently done where the previous owner before OBBM dropped the lid of the hardcase on the end of it.
I would prefer collection (near J13 M25) or willing to meet in a reasonable distance. £SOLD for this one.

ahh ive just noticed its not an LP standardyou have...im guessing its the LP Money?
This was the original review in BGM. It's the Double Cut one.

5.
I had an Epi Les Paul which was great but I sold it to tarcher as I'm more of a Fender player. Floyd Pepper has just bought a Gibson & I know he was very pleased with it.
Yep, I've still got the Gibson. I actually have a Les Paul Double Cutwaway which I bought from the US. Root beer finish and gold hardware.
Plus points with this one are the well balanced feel of the bass (It's not a neck diver), smaller body shape and the very boomy tone (especially from the E string). This thing rocks.
The other thing is that it is a lovely looking bass (IMHO).
For me the only down side is that it does feel limited with tone, hence I very rarely use it for gigs as I always use the Lakland Jazz and the Fender Precision. Then I ask myself as to why I keep it....but it's just too lovely to move on (At the moment).

6. So after buying OBBM's DJ4 in the summer, I became a Lakland convert and I'm now the proud owner of this one - a Natural DJ.
Different from my current Lake Placid DJ4 in that it has the Lakland P/U's instead of the Aero's and it's still passive at the moment (the Lake Placid Blue one has the J East Retro) although I'm using it with a Sadowsky outboard Pre-amp when I need active.

I need a bit of time to get it set up for my liking but if it comes up trumps, then as much as I'd like to keep them both, the LP may be on the move.
Cheers,
Jim

Does he still have that Status Shark bass for sale? That advert has been on ebay for as long as I can remember.

8. Hi,

I have these two up for sale.

EBS Microbass II - SOLD
Immaculate condition with original packaging and instructions. I bought this recently but it appears that the Sadowsky DI does what I need for my simple brain so this will not be used. Grab yourself a bargain.

EBS Multicomp - SOLD
I've had this pedal longer but it hasn't been used for quite a while so I'm letting it go. Comes with instructions and box.

Cheers,

9.
Yes, it's true... Why?
Surprised if that is the case as I think the DJ is a great bass. So much so, that I've just ordered another one from the US.
For those of us who prefer the slightly smaller, more contoured body and still want a great sounding Jazz, then this fits the bill.
Have a bump for an excellent bass.
