  1. I play originals and I hate a couple of our older songs. We play death metal and have slowly progressed from melodic death to blackened death so the change is obvious. I, as the songwriter, really hate the change in dynamics between songs in our set. I'm hoping when we release our EP we will abandon the old style. Luckily we aren't having much luck with gigs at the moment so I don't have to play them
  2. £40? I'll have some of that. Been after a small practise amp ever since my band shipped all of our gigging gear into the lock up, which is a 15 mile drive to practise with my rig. Need something for my bedroom. I could pick this up today if you're in the north east
  3. Thanks to Karlfer for getting in touch with Ashdown, this is unfortunately a PRC model, NOT UK MADE. I have already dropped the price to what I paid for the head alone less than 1 year ago so I am mainly in the market for trades if no one is interested in that price, either head or a cab cheers
  4. [quote name='karlfer' post='991743' date='Oct 17 2010, 10:41 PM']Hiya, just wondering, is the Ashdown made in UK or PRC, should have it on back? Cheers, Karl.[/quote] I checked the back and there doesn't seem to be any information on where it was built. The serial number is 14480207, which leads me to believe it was built in February 2007 if what I have read about Ashdown serials is true. I don't know what this means with regards to where it was manufactured, or when the manufacturing was switched to China or if some models were still built in the UK, because I know the bother with PRC vs UK models has been going on for a few years. I bought this amp from a guy who casually filled in on bass for a few months in his band who bought this new then wanted rid of it, but I have found no use for it. I don't think he would have any clue where it came from or if he would still have the original box or not. Sorry about the late reply by the way, the head is stored in a lock up at my bands practice room, I hadn't had the chance to go and check it out until last night.
  5. price drop to £400 for a sale I'd prefer a trade for this though to be honest, any offers? Cab or head
  6. I hate lending out my gear. If you haven't got your own rig without an excuse like, it got stolen 5 minutes ago as I was carrying it into the venue and I need to play this gig so I can pay for someone to give me a piggy back to china to feed my disabled child, then they aren't lending mine. I don't even like lending gear to "friends" who are mostly just familiar faces on a local scene who you only get to know through sh*tty interband small talk, with conversations about upcoming tour and recording plans, filled with words "dude" and "man" and "sweet". I also don't play gigs for sh*tty promoters who don't have the balls to ask you to borrow gear, and instead tell "someone" to bring a bass amp. It also annoys me when headline acts don't even bring a drum kit for themselves to use. Our drummer uses his kit, or at least his breakables and his bass drum because of his triggers which don't fit on certain other kits, at every gig. If he is asked before a gig to provide a kit he usually won't mind if we are high on the bill and don't have to hang around long waiting for our gear. But when a promoter asks what gear we are taking and he mentions his drum kit, most of them assume that everyone else is covered, and its the same with my gear. There was one gig we were playing and the first band brought nothing except their guitars and drum sticks. They hadn't asked us if they could borrow anything, and it came to soundcheck and these assholes were carrying my bass head up to the stage to put onto another bassists cab without asking me or him. Their drummer had set up my drummers cymbals and pedals without him knowing, and was actually playing on them - obnoxiously loud I might add - as his other bandmates set up with everyone elses gear around him. I took my head off of him and asked what gear he was planning on using, and he just shrugged and said the promoter told me where that (my) amp head was. Another band reluctantly had to borrow them all amps, and they used the battered house bass drum and snare with no bass pedal, just a sh*tty crash/ride/hi-hats, and my drummers toms, which delayed the gig. They were also absolutely sh*t, obviously. Totally unprofessional and disrespectful
  7. [quote name='jonnyfastfingers' post='984852' date='Oct 11 2010, 08:24 PM']Do you have any pics?[/quote] [url="http://img153.imageshack.us/i/amp1.jpg"]http://img153.imageshack.us/i/amp1.jpg[/url] [url="http://img829.imageshack.us/i/amp2.jpg"]http://img829.imageshack.us/i/amp2.jpg[/url] [url="http://img829.imageshack.us/i/amp2.jpg"]http://img829.imageshack.us/i/amp2.jpg[/url] I didn't think to take a picture of it with the case closed, but the lids are underneath the stool, you can see them on the picture, and they work fine The image tags didn't seem to work, sorry. just copy and paste the urls
  8. Hey guys I'm selling my Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II, which is rackmounted in a 4U Gator Case along with a behringer racktuner. I'd prefer to sell it all as one piece. Its all in epic condition. Only the case has been used for gigging with a previous head. I don't use it at all because I use a combo at practise and I don't have a cab to use it at home. I gig with a sansamp. £400 english pounds and its yours. I am in Sunderland, and will take cash on collection, or if you are within reasonable driving distance I will come and drop it off. I currently don't have a bank account though, so if you really do want it delivered we could maybe sort something out like paying into a friends or my parents' account or something but you would have to sort a courier out yourself for shipping So yeah, Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II Behringer Racktuner Gator 4U Flight case [b]£400 ono[/b] Note - I don't have a power lead for the head, I lost it some time ago and haven't needed to replace it since its just a very elaborate foot stool at the moment. I'm sure you could pick one up for a few quid EDIT - I should add, I am willing to swap it. Make me an offer
  9. Hmmmmmm. What sort of condition is it in, cosmetically too? I am a bit of a bitch for tidy looking gear. How long could you hang on to this? I have the money now but considering the petrol costs of probably £50+ to get to Glasgow and back from Sunderland I may have to wait until payday before I commit to it and skint myself a couple of weeks down the line for the sake of buying it quickly. I would be interesting in coming and picking it up if you could hang on a few weeks until I get paid?
  10. What is the average rate for bass lessons? I have been playing for a few years now but I would definitely be interested in lessons if the right guy came along. I wouldn't know where to start looking for an appropriate teacher though because I have pretty much mastered smoke on the water, and could probably play the notes to anything you put in front of me, even by ear, but my technique is most definitely far from perfect.

    Evening all

Hey guys, I'm Lewis. I have been browsing forever so thought I'd get in on the action. I am 18 years old and play in 2 bands, a post rock/instrumental project and a blackened death metal project that has recently developed into a full band that is looking to tour and be more conventional than its previous form of recording between myself and the guitarist who produced and programmed the drums etc. I have been playing bass for around five years. I use a rackmount version of the Ashdown ABM 500 evo II, currently through an imaginary cab as I am in the middle of building my rig. I previously just used an MXR DI box. I use an ESP LTD B-105 for the moment, dreadful bass. I need a better job than delivery pizzas to sort that one out though haha. See you all around
