I saw it and thought it was great.

me too, one of the few precisions I would buy infact :) (coincidentally, it is also one of the few dingwalls i would buy :)) it looks gorgeous IMO.

  2. thanks for all the replies :) i realise it probably sounded like quite a dumb question, lol, but I'm really not very good with the technical side of recording/rig sound etc.

my main reason for asking is that, due to unexpected circumstances which require me to raise a sizeable sum of money, I'm having to sell one of my basses, and I've been trying to decide which bass to keep. I've decided to keep my jazz, as at the moment i'm mostly playing bass in my room, with a few small gigs, so recording isn't a priority for me, and the jazz is just better for that.

  3. Hey all,

I am selling my Non-export Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass. I bought this from Kev (KevinJazzBass) a few months back, given it a bit of a clean up, and put some new strings on it. This is a gorgeous bass with a phenomenal sound, unfortunately it is not getting the use it deserves, and I am in the unfortunate position of needing to raise some cash for other things, so I have decided that this lovely bass needs a nice new home.
It weighs about 3.7kg and has a P/J pickup configuration. It comes with a brand new set of Rotosound Nexus coated 105 gauge strings, and a white pickguard, custom made by thebassdoc, but I will include the original black one with the bass too.

Kev told me that a few dings on the bass had been filled in by a previous owner, (who seems to have made a very good job of it), most of which are on the back. There are a few on the front, but unless you look up close, you can't see them.

It also comes with an SKB hard case, which is in very good condition.

I live in Oxford, so if anyone wants to come view it/try it out, they are more than welcome.

Price wise, I will be looking £[s]500[/s] [s]450[/s] 425. (As always, I am open to offers) :)

Collection from Oxford would be preferred, but I am also willing to meet halfway for anyone nearby, and I can post if anyone is interested from further afield.

    Cheers for looking :)

More pics are available on request.

  4. So, I've been messing around with my basses for a few hours this evening, and I have discovered that in terms of sound quality and tone through my rig, (Hartke LH1000 and hydrive 410), my jazz bass blows the aerodyne away, however, when I record the basses in logic the aerodyne has the nicer tone by a long way.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why this happens? :)

(P.s. I apologise if there is a thread somewhere about this already, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.)

  5. First Bass Owned: An Eastcoast of some variety with a P/J pickup combo

'Go To' Bass: Fender MIA Jazz Bass - it just sounds good with everything :)

'Your' Bass: Fender MIJ Aerodyne (non-export version) - not only does it give my the perfect sound, but it is the worlds prettiest bass :)

  6. my girlfriend is amazingly supportive of my bass playing :) and I love her to pieces for it :)

she always makes time to listen to me ramble on about one of my basses or amps, or a song I've been learning. she always encourages me to play bass around her, and really enjoys hearing me play, (she has come to all but one of my gigs since we have been together).

She has also been very supportive of me wanting to be in bands, and of me looking for new ones when things didn't work out.

Yesterday while I was at work she watched some of my live videos and covers on youtube, and asked me to teach her a couple of songs when I got home, which was really nice :)

  7. Hey all,

I know this has probably been covered somewhere, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. (Feel free to link though.)

I currently have a sansamp BDDI to add a little bit of edge and power to my tone. Recently I have been hearing alot of people saying how good the Aguilar Tone Hammer is, and I was wondering if anyone could give their opinion and/or a comparison on the differences between the two pedals.

    Thanks :)

Wow. If I could be half and good as you, then I would be a very happy guy. :)

I absolutely love this, it feels so funky and your playing is amazing.

(I'm not one for technical musicy terms :) haha).

Well done dude, can't wait to here more! :)

  9. i agree that you should probably just walk away. afterall, it sounds like something you are doing this for enjoyment rather than money, and if that is the case then there really isn't any point in staying with them just to be in a band. If you aren't having fun and enjoying practices and gigs then it's not worth the large amount of hassle.

I had the same situation with my last band, and sure enough a few weeks after I left I got a message from a band with some awesome sounding songs, asking me to come try out :)

    Hope it all goes well.

Yes but when they've told you the week before that they will learn them.....

My time is precious too but if I've said I'll learn something for the band I'll move/put aside other commitments to do ot OR just say "can't this week sorry I'm super busy/on holiday/going to Jupiter to collect ice samples or whatever.
    [/quote]

Ofcourse, and I would always do the same. However, I was just saying that it isn't always fair to assume that someone else is free as much/at the same time as you are, that's all.

Well it depends. sometimes folk think because they have the time to learn three tunes in a week everyone else should. They might forget they are off because of summer/chrimbo break in Uni or such and the other person is hitting a busy time in work and is having to do the old OT.

this is exactly what my last band was like. they all did ridiculous courses with 5 hours of lectures a week, and therefore assumed that I would have the same amount of free time as them, when infact I have a very busy week working in a lab until 6 or 7 every evening :/ people annoy me [s]sometimes[/s] most of the time :)
