1. Hi all

Up for grabs is my superb Orange OBC 4x10 cab in great condition.
I'm sure everyone knows what great cabs these are, but I already have another two 4x10's, so I'm looking at some other smaller options.

Here's a link to the info on the cab:
http://www.orangeamp...10-speaker-cab/

Trade wise I'd be looking for either an Orange OBC 115 plus £100 my way, or an Orange OBC 210 plus £100 my way.

Or straight sale for £375 collected, I'm based in Waltham Cross just outside North London and viewings are welcome.
I can pack this cab if the buyer wanted to arrange a courier, the dimensions are on the link above.

I'll hopefully get some pics up next week as the cabs at my office and I'm of work at until next week.

Thanks for looking and PM me any questions.

2. These custom shop ones are a decent price:

3. I would seriously look at some used Hartke stuff. They're really great amps and very loud, and usually quite reasonably priced. If you could pick up a second hand Hartke 4.5XL cab with a Hartke HA3500 or LH500 head, that would be a great rig.
www.Thomann.de have a couple of options a good prices at the minute:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/hartke_2500_bass_head_bundle_3.htm

Or if you can save a little extra:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/hartke_2500_bass_head_bundle.htm

Or search Hartke in the for sale section on this forum, something like this could be an option:
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/187524-hartke-lh500-bass-amp-and-yamaha-410-cab-l340/page__p__1858863__hl__hartke__fromsearch__1#entry1858863

4. Hi all

Up for sale is my Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in Olympic White finish with Rosewood fretboard.
It's a 2008 model, so is the newer style American Standard with the SKB hard case and HMV bridge (but not with CS pickups).

I've owned this bass since new and it really is a stunning looking and sounding bass. The Olympic White finish has aged and yellowed nicely, so looks more like Vintage White now.

I've added the Fender chrome pickup and bridge covers and thumbrest. I also had the control plate replaced with a stack knob version so it looks like a cool vintage 61 bass now. I do still have the original control plate that will be included in the sale.

Comes with it's original SKB hard case which does have a damaged latch, but still works as it should. There's also a tiny ding in the lower horn, but it's hardly visible.

Looking for £675 collected and sadly no trades. A great chance to get a vintage looking bass at a sensible price.

Please PM me with any questions, I'm based just outside North London in Waltham Cross and viewings are welcome.
I am prepared to send via courier if the buyer wishes at their expense.

5. Hi Guys

Thought I'd report back with some good news.
I contacted Orange and they had my OTB collected via Courier last Monday. I then emailed they guy this Monday for an update and he replied stating my OTB was ready for collection and should be with me the next day. To my delight a Courier delivered my OTB yesterday as the guy promised.
I used the head last night and it was back to it's former glory.
I've gotta say I was really impressed with the customer service I received from Orange.
I didn't have to haggle with them once, just a few emails and my OTB was collected, fixed and delivered back to me in 8 days without even a mention of any money changing hands.

Can't argue with that.

But still not sure what the actual problem was, still, all's well that ends well :D

That is one of more of the capacitors blowing its guts out. If you open it up you'll find one or more exploded, probably find a roll of mangled cardboard type stuff in there. Its happened to other ones, they either got a bad batch of caps, or cheaped out too far on them.

Edit: See here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/orange-terror-bass-500-exploded-917680/

Is this fairly easy for an amp tech to repair?
Any idea how much it would cost?
Thanks

I note you said this is the second amp you've had problems with - were they similar issues? I'm wondering if it's not your cab or bass that is causing the problems with the amps?
No they're different sorts of issues and different cabs for each head.

8. Hi all

I'm not having much luck with my amps at the minute.
Had some issues with my Hartke LH1000 last week, but I think I've managed to sort that now.

Now my OTB 500 has gone.
I haven't used the head in a while and usually keep it at my office in it's padded bag. I brought it home on Saturday and hooked it up to a cab. I switched it on to standby and initially the light didn't come on.

The light then came on after about 5 seconds and then it started to make a weird frazzle noise, like a frying pan and then this thick white smoke started to come out of the back. It had a really strong burning smell too.
I quickly switched off the power and unplugged it.

I got this head in a trade earlier this year so I don't have any warranty.
Does this sound like something that could be fixed. Should I take it directly to Orange as they're not that far from me, or should I look at a local amp repair guy?

Thanks in advance

9. Gigged the amp last night and it wad absolutely fine. That's a studio practice and a gig now where there hasn't been any issues, I'm convinced it was a power/electrics issue in that last pub.
Anyway, I'm gonna stick a new valve in it just for peace of mind, but fingers crossed I may now be sorted.
Thanks for all the advice guys

10. Used the amp last night with no issues at all.
Used all the same cables and the same bass and tried it at different voice levels, different settings, pick, fingers and had no issues at all.
I had a spare valve with me ready to swap over hoping it may be a simple issue like that, but there was no need in the end. The amp worked fine all night.
On the night in question we had my amp, the guitarist amp and his pedal board all running off an extension lead from single socket.
Can't think what the problem was if it wasn't the electric as the amp was fine last night.

I personally can't help you, but I will be following this thread. My PA (RCF 310A's and a Xenyx 2442 desk) seems to pick up static noise from somewhere and goes when the RCF's are turned off then on again. I wondered if it was the electrics to.

Does your amp do this anywhere else? If it's fine everywhere else I'd assume it was the venue electrics. Hopefully someone will come along and explain things!

I've never had a problem with the amp before. But I wasn't sure if it had just started developing problems or if the electrics were causing it.

12. Bit of a query for anyone in the know.

We played a gig last night in an old pub in the back end of Essex. The pub was a typical small oldie pub, wooden beams on the ceiling etc.
We sound checked and my amp seemed really quiet. I changed all the leads and it still sounded much quieter than usual.
Then when we came on to start the first set it was back up to it's usual volume.
Everything was fine and then a couple of songs in the volume started dipping again.
This carried on through the whole set with the volume dipping every now and again.

I'm really hoping it's not a fault with my amp or cab and I won't get a chance to try it again till the end of the week.

So I was hoping that such an old building, with equally old electrics, may cause this problem.
Baring in mind a 4-piece band would be drawing a massive amount of electricity compared to the old T.V in the corner, is there a possibility that this was the cause of the problem.

Is it possible that dodgy electrics could have caused this problem???

Thanks in advance guys
