1. Hi there I've recently bought one of these to use as a home practice amp. I think its awesome for the price (i got mine from ebay but i would have quite happily paid 'shop price' for one of these.) It should be a very capable small-gig amp, but it doesn't have a DI out or effects loop (should you need/want one). It feels very well made too. My only other Ashdown experience was playing through a borrowed combo about 5 years ago. I thought that sounded horrible, so I was VERY impressed with this mini-stack! JP
2. Plus, who can forget the single biggest advancement in bass technology since Leo said "I'm gonna make an electric fretted bass": The 'Opti-Grab'!! Cheers Nikki, your contribution to the world of bass will never be forgotten.
3. T-Birds are sh*te and they are a one-trick pony! (sorry, couldn't resist!) I was looking at the Sixx Blackbirds the other day. I noticed that the ONLY control on them was an on/off switch. No volume, no tone controls. If you don't like the tone, you're pretty much screwed. Which kind makes the Blackbird a one trick pony (the irony!) I'd get a standard black one, at least then you can blend the pickup volume/tone to your liking. I hope this helps. JP
4. Just bought some for Nottingham! Got a room at the travelodge for only £19 too! Can't wait for this.
5.
Any takers, I know I'm being a tadge specific.
You after ANOTHER T-bird then?!?!?!? I hope you're not regretting selling your natural one. Although obviously T-birds are the only basses that matter, that is a nice Ricky. All the best mate, I hope you manage to get one sorted. JP
6. Hi all Up for sale is my Boss GT10B multi FX unit. No matter how hard I try, I just can't get on with Multi FX units! This really is a fantastic unit, with a huge array of sounds at its disposal. The ability to run 2 effects chains in parallel is an excellent feature. Here's what Boss themselves have to say: Bass players can enjoy the same core processing muscle and flexibility of the GT-10 in a specially made sibling: the GT-10B, optimized for the low-frequency domain. The massive power of BOSS’s latest DSP engine and COSM sound-modeling know-how are integrated to provide the most creative and essential features for bass. With Parallel Chain, Phrase Loop, and EZ Tone onboard, the GT-10B takes its place as the most advanced-yet-friendly bass station on the market. Optimized for bass, with essential effects such as OD/DS, Comp/Limiter, the GT-10B provides top-quality sounds without sacrificing richness and bottom of the bass tone EZ Tone enables intuitive tone creation by using an interactive user interface based on graphic icons Parallel Chain offers two separate effects paths that can be blended, switched by playing dynamics, or with the onboard pedals Phrase Loop allows instant sound-on-sound loop creation USB capability offers audio- and MIDI-streaming in real time GT-10B comes equipped with XLR outputs as well as 1/4-inch jacks Comes complete with manual, power supply and the original packaging. £210 posted or £200 collected from Barnsley JP
7. Hi all Up for sale here is my WOBO Double Looper. Please note it is NOT a parallel looper. Here's some bunf from the WOBO website: The hand made WOBO Double Looper True Bypass Box is used for switching two effects or sets of effects, eliminating them from the signal path when they are not required. It contains two True Bypass effects loops. The major improvement in a WOBO True Bypass Loopers is the use of relays instead of switches. Most switch based bypass devices use components that are simply NOT DESIGNED for switching audio signals. The relays used in the Double Looper have been specially designed for switching high-qualuty audio signals so that there is absolutely no impact on your sound. Thanks to the addition of our "INV" switch it is possible to turn on any configuration of effects with a single stomp. Power comes from a standard 'boss-type' 9v adapter (not included). £45 posted or £40 collected from Barnsley JP
8. Hi there my fellows bass demons Up for sale is my Whirlwind Selector. I used to use this in my more 'progressive' days to run 2 amps (at the same time!). It can also be used to switch between 2 guitars into one amp. It has true bypass switching and works perfectly. There's a few scratches on the unit, but this doesn't affect perforance one iota. It runs off of an old-style EHX 'mini jack' 9v power supply (which isn't included in the sale) I would like £60 posted or £55 collected from God's own holiday hotspot, Barnsley. Cheers JP
9. I used to use an Ibanez SB7 in my old band and found it to be a great pedal for the money. I got mine for about £30 off ebay, and they're under £60 new. Pretty solid construction too, and the tone-lok knobs are a great idea. Not only that, it's polyphonic too (which some of the more expensive ones aren't). JP
10. Just bought a gorgeous Thunderbird from Julian, in what was quite simply one of the smoothest transactions ever!! He patiently waited for over a week while I gathered funds and was a pleasure to deal with. I for one wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. Top bloke too. Also makes the finest cup of coffee that I've ever had in Birmingham! JP
11. It was a pleasure to meet you too. And thank you for making a dream come true!!!
12. Hello fellow bassists! I'm JP and I'm from Barnsley. Musically, I'm into loads of different stuff. My good old dad raised me on a diet of Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, and Motown. My 2 older brothers made me listen to loads of bad 80s metal and some good 80s metal. And in my 'impressionable' teens, Britpop (urgh!) was everywhere. So that's pretty much the entire lexicon of ROCK! I've been playing bass for about 8 years now, before that I was a terrible guitarist!! As for gear, I play through a Hartke HA5500 head with VX215 cab, which produces a monstrous sound. I'm also a bit of an effects junkie (I shall shortly be investing a complete overhaul of my pedal board, just so I can have more pedals than my guitarist!) And lastly, my basses. The first one I ever bought was a '96 Japanese Fender Jazz. It's a bit beat up now, but I still love it. I just don't think that it loves me! Then I bought an Epiphone Thunderbird. These basses seem to get a bad rap, but I've used mine for about 6 years and never once has it failed to deliver. Maybe I dropped on a good one! But today, the epi has been overshadowed by my latest purchase. My dream bass. A REAL Gibson Thunderbird (bought from this very site). I can't wait to plug this in my rig and rock-out! Nice to meet y'all, and I look forward to conversing with you (and making fun of smelly drummers and stinky guitarists too!!) JP
