For my first bass i bought an Encore PK-20 p bass, brand new on ebay for £60. Now im upgrading and cant decide what bass to get.
Should i get the Chase for £130?

My first bass is/ was a 32" Encore which i find is good if im playing a song that uses the whole fretboard, as it quicker to move around on than the longer scale basses..

+1, it was his inspiration which led to me learning bass..
i understand what your saying, would it be something like this for example?
G|22337538 _ 234759
D|00000000 or 0~~~~ with the ~ symbol meaning continue the note?
I probably make no sence at all, just an idea lol
Muse- Hysteria --Very fast but really good once you get the speed right
Metalica- King Nothing --- TUNEE i love the isolated part at the start, if you havent heard it i suggest you do!
im going to take it into school tommorow and see if my teacher can see what the problem is and try a new string on it. but if the problem continues i may end up taking it to a specialist or someone at a shop.
Suddenly Im thinking is the truss rod shot and vibrating or possibly a knackered tuner
Just having a listen now and the buzz seems to be coming from above the nut and from around the tuning post. the string has been wrapped around 3 times fully but its definately coming from above the nut that's for sure.
Aha ok thanks, I've just played it with the amp and it sounds perfectly normal. I think I will take it down to my local music shop and see if they can figure out Wat it is.
Thanks for you help .really appreciated
Right I think a new nut is in order then, I have tried many times with the paper to no success so im going to have to buy a new nut for it. The only question now is what one? (As mines a short scale) and where?
Thanks in advance
Thank u very much I'll get that sorted over the next few days. Being a pretty much newbie I went into my music shop and asked for a set of strings for my shortie and I brought them, from ur description it could be the gaugeing. Thank you very much for you time and help
I did what you said applying light prrssurse to the bit of string but it made no difference, I can't upload pics atm as my Photobucket isn't working but when I restrung it I did what you said above about working downwards, what is your diagnosis?
I play a PK-20, 30" scale bass, its my first bass and im hooked. I've played a few 34" basses but I feel more comfertable with 30's. It also looks odd (me being 5ft 10) playing a shortie and my guitarist is always complaining but I prefer the sound and feel to it over full scales .
I don't like any basses over 6 string or headless basses. But weirdly I dont like the fender 'mark hoppus' jazz p bass which was baby blue and had no tone control and only a volume knob, whith a jazz body and precision neck...totally weird
I've just replaced the strings on my short scale bass and on my E string there is a weird buzzing sound coming from the plastic bridge on the top of the neck, all of the strings are fine except This one and I can't figure out what it is that's causing it. Any help I would be greatful for.
P.s. this is unamplified
Thanks
Im pretty new to bass and i play an Encore PK-20, which is 30" scale and i much prefer it to 34" scale basses, i find it easier to move around the board quicker
