I didn't think either my programmable Sansamp BDDI or the regular one done distortion or fuzz. Just mild to heavy overdrive (and the heavier drive past 2 o'clock sounded pants IMO, horse for courses etc).

The VT Bass on the other hand will just about get you into distortion with the drive cranked. Nothing crazy though.

People tend to do different gain stages with the programmable ones, which tends to go one clean, one mild OD and one really dirty OD. These are also the people with 7 other gain pedals though...

You can get a pretty filthy drive from them, but for actual distortion/fuzz I'd get a distortion/fuzz. Some blendable fuzzes just sound like ODs though- watch out for that.
Yep, mine's on 95% of the time, if not more. It won't do fuzz however, it's a preamp/DI/overdrive/EQ pedal, not a fuzz.
same for me. use it to boost pedals with weak outputs or just as a d.i.
if you want fuzz or distortion, look elsewhere.
