Thanks very much, its our singers favourite New Order track, I love it on the chorus with the female vocals kick in Edited September 4, 2009 by Mecklenburg
Doc B
As It Is, When It Was sounds great - really good choice of song too. For some reason it made me think of the band Frasier Chorus. I love New Order and Joy Division but never found a band who seemed to share that love - not even when I lived in Sheffield! Well done getting on the tribute CD. We're going to be on Radio Sheffield in October doing a live session, i'm not sure if we're doing As it is, but I shall be posting the details up on here closer to the time. I think its Oct 1st and should be broadcast on-line too.
Mecklenburg
Hi again, Just an update on the New Order Tribute CD I'm doing with my band - The Bedford Incident. It's coming out early Feb in the US (I think it's also being released in the UK/Europe. You can pre order it here; from Amazon We've contributed the track "As it is, When it was" and have been selected to go on the physical 2CD album, 1st track on CD2 which I'm quite chuffed with, and we also did a cover of 'Ceremony' which is available through them as a digital download album. But if you don't want to buy it, you can listen to it on our myspace page THE BEDFORD INCIDENT
Jerry_B
Great stuff! Have you ever had a listen to the US-based tribute album 'A Means To An End'? It's pretty good - apart from 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' gets a mauling by someone who sounds like Edie Brickell...
Mecklenburg
Cheers Jerry - glad you liked it! I think this one is mostly US based artists, but there's a few of us from the UK. No I haven't heard that one, our singer probably has as he's a HUGE Joy Division/New Order fan - I'll see if he has a copy.
Jerry_B
It's worth listening to if he's got it. Also worth reading for the sleeve notes by Tony Wilson. There was another tribute compilation done by a load of British bands awhile ago, but it wasn't half as good as the aforementioned US version. Ever since we did it I've been thinking of alsorts we could do One thing I forget to mention is that the vast majority of profits from this tribute are going to the Tony Wilson fund to support young musicians. Jerry_B
Have you heard of a band called Galaxie 500? They did a good version of 'Ceremony' and are very influenced by Joy Division.
