Middle age and learning new songs

I have to agree that if the musical style isn't something that you actually listen to regularly then certain chord progressions/structures can prove problematic... saying that I forget half of the Blues stuff my #2 band does and that is as straightforward as it gets but I just don't get into it! If it ain't fun and happening tell the band the song sucks and learn something more interesting/less challenging instead (delete where applicable)

Failing that take up the drums, all they do all night is sit and go 'boom crack boomboom crack' :) how hard can that be?
I've found the same thing, especially on more complex songes, BUT even when you feel you're forgetting it all some of it is sinking in subliminally. If you keep at it there will come a point when it suddenly clicks unexpectedly. I find this usually happens after a break ( i.e. a day or two) and when I go back i find I can remember more than I'd been expecting.
Yes exactly
