I think that was the natural wood job one?
In 2 tone? Light maple and a dark ash if it was the one I was so close to making a move on it.... The things I could with that bass...lordy...

That was very nice indeed....I dug up the details on it and they are below.
I have the GT Model I think mine is a little light on the weight end ....

If no one has played a Conkey... the neck for a 7 is amazing so thin.

If bass builders or luithers are reading this just a quick tip and I have owned a few basses if you want a tip on how to build your neck and get it right and the spacing too take a butchers at the Conklin GT7.... The neck is so easy to play and not tiring on the hand at all like some basses I know. "That is a fact".

I will upload the other photos in a bit.

Conklin Sidewinder 7 string bass

It has:
7 piece bolt on neck
34" scale
Graphlon nut
dual truss rods
Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups
9v active EQ
recessed Dunlop straplocks
black hardware
Neutrik locking input jack
Conklin 'melt' top

The front woods are figured Maple and Cherry, with a Purpleheart spacer, and the neck Purpleheart and Maple, with a Purpleheart fretboard. I am informed that the body wood is also Cherry. it weighs around 13 lbs.

Chris has a sweet bass.

I've had my GT7 for 8 years or so. I wish it was a little lighter on the weight side as this bass weighs a stone (literally).

Bought off eBay in the States for $800. It sounds great and I found it sounded better after I had it converted to fretless (?!). The GT7's are brilliant basses and the way of getting into 7 strings.

When I had the opportunity to order my Sei 7, I asked for it to be made with the same string spacing as the Conklin.

I owned Finbar's sidewinder from new - more than 10 years.

In terms of tone, it is totally amazing. It was big and not light, but still very playable. Looks-wise it was a head-turner - stunning! If I hadn't blown all he gave me for it, I'd probably have it back today.

If I ever found a conklin that was identical in sound and playability, but maybe a bit lighter with one or two less strings, I suspect I'd be looking at a "perfect bass" (for me).

Has anyone here ever commissioned a new Conklin?
