Cameronj279 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Hi folks, Just picked up a new (to me) Sterling Stingray with Seymour Duncan pickup and looks to be a retrovibe 77 Preamp fitted. Plugged it in to play there and noticed it seems to pull through some radio type noise. I'm not a technical guy and most things I read online say it's likely needing shielded. Does anybody have much experience with this and does that seem the likely fix for it? I knew this could happen with single coils but didn't think it was much of a thing with humbuckers. Plugging in through a Quad Cortex, tried my ACG and 4 different guitars and all of them are silent so I would rule out the houses electrics. Attached a video to give an idea of what I mean. tauzero Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago It would certainly be worth shielding it, both the control cavity and the pickup cavity. Quote
Cameronj279 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago In with the guitar tech. Had a look at the preamp and I think Stevie Wonder fitted it under Ray Charles instructions. Sounds phenomenal right enough when it isn't playing the radio. Quote
