RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) While playing my vester fretless bass , one of the tuning pegs fell out . I pushed it back in , but notice that it has a black screw that has gone missing. Any idea where to get the right sized replacement ?? Or am I screwed , and have to purchase a replacement gotoh tuning peg? 😬 Edited 8 hours ago by RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Quote
neepheid Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Take another one out, and measure it, then get a replacement? It's just a case of getting the correct screw. Perhaps a local, friendly fastener supplier could help? Contact Gotoh? 1 Quote
neepheid Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Oh and another thing, you won't find those Gotoh GB7s (if indeed they're even called GB7s) anywhere but the second hand market, especially those ones with the plastic, fluted bit below the button. The modern day GB707 has a different shaped button. Edited 7 hours ago by neepheid 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago I found a website via ai/ Google ( yes I know ) called Glued to music . I registered with them , and assumed I could pay via PayPal , but for some reason PayPal was unavailable at this time . Apple Pay was the other option but I decided not to proceed ! Site may not be legit as I haven’t received confirmation email . I’d rather not get soaked in this weather and it’s a bus ride to the nearest hardware shop . There is Amazon but they have too many options .. Quote

neepheid Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) I have these tuners on one of my basses also: They're good tuners, well worth replacing that screw if you ask me. Let me have a rummage in my spares boxes and see what I can find. Edited 7 hours ago by neepheid 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago I did receive an email from Neil Co owner of the company I mentioned . He noticed I didn’t checkout , so I am now in conversation with him via email to see if I can get the replacement needed! Quote
neepheid Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago OK, well for my own curiosity if nothing else, I'll still see if I've got a suitable replaceable screw anyway and if I find one, I'm happy to send you it. 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago I found the size I need ! Should be easy enough to track down .. 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Sorry to be a bit wet behind the ears , but I’m not sure of the actual size of that screw. 🤦♂️ Glued to music are a legitimate organisation who have been very helpful.. However they are unsure if they have the size needed. They sent a link for 15mm which may be too big .. Quote

neepheid Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 2 hours ago, RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE said: Cheers 🍺 Right, I've taken the screw out of one of mine and can tell you the following about the screw: Size: M2.5 Thread: Metric Fine (0.35mm pitch - course is 0.45mm) Total length (including head): 18mm Now, I have a set of GB7 knockoffs which I was going to raid for parts anyway and I took the screw out of one of those. It is slightly longer at 19.75mm, and has a slightly smaller head, but I put that screw in my genuine GB7 tuner and it tightened up fine - there must be some tolerance built into the design to accept the slightly longer screw. Here they are side by side (and length difference heavily exaggerated by the macro lens - I measured them both with digital callipers) If you'd like me to send you this screw, noise me up in a PM and we'll get it sorted. But if you just want to take the info above to find your own screw, then no worries. 1 Quote
