JPJ Posted Saturday at 09:09 Posted Saturday at 09:09 Question for the Basschat hive mind. No reason other than I’m puzzled. But I’ve seen a few videos of pro players with neck off basses. My question is, if you take the string tension off the top, what stops the sound post from falling during transport? Quote

Nothing unless you’ve positioned it very carefully and you’re also very careful with the bass. My Chadwick required the post be removed and reinstalled with each breakdown, simple job due to the design. If I were modifying a standard bass now I’d also engineer a device to install between gigs to keep the soundpost in place 👌 1 Quote
tommyjamesallen Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The soundpost will often sit within a small foam ring on the back of the bass, to stop it from falling. Quote
