franzbassist Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) The first one is easy, my Original Effects Cali 76 Bass Compressor, but after that should I put the HX One or the Origin Effects DCX (running as an overall EQ) next? At the moment it’s Cali>DCX>HX One, but I’m starting to think the DCX should come last? I’ll try the latter tomorrow regardless, but curious to see what the BC hive mind thinks. SumOne Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The classic thing is to go: compressor > effects > preamp. ....but lots of amps have an effects loop as it is good to put certain effects (generally delays, reverbs, modulation) after the preamp. And compressors set more like limiters are usually at the end of the signal chain (e.g. can then tame overly 'peaky' effects like tape delay). So there isn't any definitive right or wrong. 1 1 Quote
itu Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago If you want to push the fx and use dynamics to control them, then comp should be last - and the other way around. 1 Quote
