BEAD - String choice

I've found myself in a metal core band following a successful audition on Sunday. 

 

The band play in BEAD so I strung my bass in a cheap set of Rotosound 50 -110 stainless strings for the audition. Which worked OK on my Streamer SII but they never really sounded very bright.

 

What's the options for strings or what are people using when down tuning?

I tried BEAD as a stepping stone to going 5-string. I bought a 5-string set for the trial and put them on the 5-string bass I eventually bought.
