Best roundwounds for punk/rock

Hi, having been a TI Flat devotee thought I would mix things up and try out a set of rounds, in part so I can at least have a crack at slapping. I know there are BC threads about string choices but there are almost as many recommendations on these as brands, in part due to differing sonic needs.

SO question is which rounds do you recommend for straight ahead rock but which would also be suitable for an occasional experiment in slapping? I am looking to 45-105 gauge.

PS, I am guessing from the aforementioned threads there will be plenty of support for DR strings but what is the difference between Fatbeams, Hi Beams, Lo-Riders etc?

Cheers Clarky

I dunno how good they are for slapping but for Rock n Punk I use Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys (50-105) and find them spot on.

Thx Jon

Perhaps I can ask this a different way - I have some Fender 2250M nickel-plated roundwound strings lying around from when I bought my MIA Precision and they feel quite clanky and 'hard' - are there are any 'softer' feeling rounds that you guys would recommend? BTW, I tried some TI roundwounds (which are supposed to be very soft-feeling) but the gauge is just too thin for me (the E is only 0.89) and requires loads of truss rod tweaking
