warwickhunt Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Well the X32 is here which our band is going to use as an IEM mixer for live work where we do gigs where an engineer will be handling FOH and this is our responsibility. I'm going to start setting it up for basic IEM mixes which the band can then tweak. I have several questions if anyone can assist. 1. Do I set up each of the 6 IE outs independently or are there global settings that I can apply to all output mixes? 2. I'm certainly going to take a stereo IE mix from the X32 (several band members have shrugged and said mono is fine) but is there any benefit to using XLR over 1/4" outputs? My IE transmitter is a combi input and will take either. What are the obvious things that I'll miss and potentially need to do/know about? 1 Quote
Chienmortbb Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Be aware that some IEM systems only have stereo on the XLR part of the combi input. It is not available on TRS. Quote

warwickhunt Posted July 21 Author Posted July 21 I should have clarified that the MiPro has stereo combi inputs so if I was taking Aux outs (x2) they'd be going to L / R inputs on the transmitter. Quote
kiat Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago How have you been getting on with the IEM mixing @warwickhunt? I'm interested in your progress as the next step on the IEM journey for one of my bands is to go from our simple, analogue mixer stereo IEM setup (common mix plus "more me") to a digital mixer (at this stage, likely an XR18) with the same basic needs to get it all working smoothly. Last 2 gigs I've used the stereo set up but I've not yet balanced the volumes 100% never mind the stereo image. However I'm confident it'll work for me and be an improvement. 1 Quote

Do you enable your bandmates to adjust their own IEM feeds (mix, levels) from their phones (over WiFi) or control units (over twisted pair)? Quote

Everyone accesses/adjusts their own feed, mainly via phone; it works for us. Quote

Cool, that's what we do now on our analogue mixer+headphone amp and looking forward to the day we get an XR to do the same. Another band I play in has started to use an X32 (desktop, not rack, version) but the friend owning it has yet to figure out our individual mix control. Quote
