Sterling Stingray Short Scale Bass

Following surgery on my fretting hand I experimented with short scale basses for 18 months to get me back playing and gigging. This Sterling Stingray was one of my favourites having owned and played both EBMM and Sterling versions. This one was put together from a couple of new basses bought from Thomann last year and modded with better quality parts.

I have owned six Sterling Stingray short scales since my problems started with my left hand and apart from one with a dodgy neck that I had to get repaired they have all been superb. This one has a beautiful flamed roast maple neck with birds eye maple board. Action is low and it’s strung with D’Addario 45-100 nickels.

I had my luthier put new Schallers on it as the tuners are always a weak spot with these ‘budget’ instruments. It also has a Hipshot D tuner fitted. Of course I will supply the originals should you prefer. It has a black pickguard fitted as well as the original pearl white one. It comes with a Fender gigbag and a new unopened set of D’Addarios. It is in excellent condition other than a small mark on the back of the headstock where the D tuner scuffed the finish.

It is well balanced and comfy to play over long gigs. It weighs 3.7kgs. The final picture shows it alongside a full size Stingray Special.

Selling as I no longer need it. The mods and extras hopefully make this a good buy for someone. It is a lovely bass and I kept it in preference over two EBMM US made short scale Stingrays.

Postage in the UK will be £20 if you can’t pick it up in person. No trades and it is a UK sale only sorry.
