Under the radar to US/EU

Anyone any recent experience of playing in US or EU without a visa?

 

The UK subs got deported last month. I'm told that they'd regularly gigged there under the radar; I wonder if their luck just ran out or was it because of remarks they made about the Supreme Leader. We have offers but the cost of visas rules out doing it legitimately

 

 

And EU. How relaxed are they? Again, we have offers...at least visas are easier but I believe they're done country by country. No such thing as a EU visa.

 

Brexit has been the most depressing series of events in my life (and that of my sister, EU resident for 15 years)

I’d say the risks aren’t worth it anymore—both the US and EU have tightened up, and while some bands still chance it, getting caught can mean deportation or bans that kill future opportunities.

My old band played in EU a few months back, from memory it’s ok to take guitars & amps but not cabs (I think). Apparently it’s not as difficult as many have tried to make out. I’ll see if I can find out what’s needed.

I believe that there have been agreements put in place that have made easier than it was at first, but there are still issues that need looking at. As the OP alludes to, you may need to look at how things differ from country to country. I understand that in some countries it ma be easier to hire backline, etc out there. I would be interested to see what Loz reports back from people who have first hand experience of playing out there recently.
