Steve Lawson London gig

Steve Lawson has mentioned on his facebook that he's doing a (literal) coffee shop gig in Peckham in February:

"London! I've got a really fun lil gig coming up in Peckham. Fri Feb 21st, with beautiful human and fabulous bassist @bassdbler. It's at @ronspeckham, starts at 7pm and tickets are PWYW on the door, but lemme know if you're coming as the place is tiny and we might have to rethink the no tickets thing if a ton of people want to be there 😂.
Please spread the word. It's my first London gig since before the pandemic and it's a warm-up for another gig TBA soon. Plus you'll get to see JD and he's fabulous 💜"

To my utter surprise, I made it.

 

The place is full of groovy and hip people.  I am neither. 

 

I think that I am late.  About 30 years late....

He remembered me, and that we last met at a mutual friend's birthday party.  He remembered too that he had given me a lesson. 

 

I am in shock. And I am officially Cool.

Steve Lawson is back at Ron's in Peckham, 7pm on 17th October. 

 

I am here, at 6pm, watching them set up.

I hope it's a great evening @bass_dinger .  I well remember the time that Steve Lawson graced a SE bass bass with his presence, he's a phenomenal talent and a very nice chap. It's good to see that he's out and about again.

I couldn't make last night, hope it was as good as last time!

I had already had a long day (piano lesson in the morning, met a friend in the afternoon), and arrived an hour early. 

 

I chatted with Steve, and others, and listened to the first performer.

 

By 8:20, I had run out of stamina, and decided to leave - before Steve had even started his set!

 

Back home by bedtime.
