RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 Basic question really 😬 My Mac is running slow , probabky due to the fact I have a few GarageBand recordings on it . It happened before , but I just deleted them all . I do have an external hard drive , and was wondering if it's worth moving the file over there and if it's hard to do . I record short bits on soundcloud and never go back to them ., just leaving them on the Mac .  Thanks Quote
BigRedX Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 1. What version of MacOS are you running? Â 2. How much RAM does this Mac have? Â 3. Is the system drive a SSD or HD? Â 4. How big is the system drive? Â 5. How much free space is left on it? 1 1 Quote

BigRedX Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 There's only one thing there that would point to a slow down problem and that's if the system drive really is an HD rather than an SSD.  What model is this Mac? It will be in Apple Menu > About This Mac  And while you are their click on the System Report button, and when the system information panel appears select Storage from the left-hand column and see what it says about your system disk. 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted February 6, 2024 Author Posted February 6, 2024 iMac 21.5"  2017 ,  Mac hd apfs file system , bsd name : disk 1s5s1 / system information version 11.0(915) . Mount point / lots more , but not  sure if I've provided enough info here 😬 Quote
