I had a play with a passie multi switch tone control, here is an example of the various sounds you can achieve.

A link to instructions on how to make one can be found in the video description.

i'm paying a local guy to do some major mods on a homemade bass i built and one of those mods is adding a 5 way switch for multiple pickups configs.

i don't have the soldering abilities to do it. definitely not to do it nice and neatly!

so, i wonder if i could sit that next to the pickup selector and integrate it into the mix. i absolutely love the 400hz and lower tones.

it might be overkill, but it would be a cool feature!

does that make sense?

sorry, am i hijacking the thread?

I hear you! It was very fiddly and I only ended up doing a six way!  It was a good mod tho.  Another neat one is to add in some onboard distortion

That is deeply cool!

With my latest self build I am going to do as little as possible on the bass itself (To achieve as minimal a look as I can) and do all f/x in my pedal (A self build multi-fx)

Love a minimal look, but also love "maximal"!!!!

My last self build was a p style with only single volume knob (although i recently changed it to concentric vol/tone) but the mods on this one will be 3 pickups with multiple switching options, knobs and likely push pull pots!

Their shop is interesting - the bassman style tube preamp looks very cool.

"This is a totaly new and patented design.
It features three tubes: one buffer, one tube to drive the top of the sine wave and one to drive the bottom of the sine wave.
The sine wave does not get clipped in square forms like in normal preamp overdrive and in overdrive and fuzz pedals but gets compressed softly, retaining a round shape. This results in a very warm and natural sound."

Seems like you'd be on safe ground buying from them - they seem to be deep in the bass geek zone!
