Truss Rod pain.

Hi All,

I’m a jazz bass guy and fancied a Budget P bass.

After buying a squier p bass pro tone 1997 Made in Korea for £120 I made a fatal mistake not checking the truss rod.

which I believe is sheared off, stew Mac does a gripper.

does anyone know of a similar tool based in the uk?

I managed to use the body with upgrades which I’m very happy with

fender MIM Jazz neck

Montys retro wind pup

Montys 50s wiring loom

i like the neck so I would like to use it to make a Jamerson P bass with a Paulownia body.

any help or advise would be much appreciated

Thanks

Andy

  • dasbear69 changed the title to Truss Rod pain.

needs to get the nut off the end of the truss rod and fit a new one; shouldn't be too difficult, I'd try forcing a torx bit of suitable size into the remains of the hex and once purchase has been acheived unwind the nut BUT I haven't withdrawn the nut on a squier, I have done done it on a MIM and it came out okay. With the tuners and string tree off access is pretty good, piece of cardboard or the like to protect the face of the headstock while hitting the torx bit, you might have to grind down the bit a little on the sides to ensure sufficient length to get properly into the hex head

Others will have better advice I am sure
