Strings

I've just started playing again after a long boring break.
My question is I'm working with some guys who tune down to drop D with a C bottom. Which strings, guage, (round or flat) would be best sounding and not go too floppy without having to go too high action? Also, which would stay 'alive' longest as I always have the bottom E (C in this case) dying off in no time?

hey littlewing...for a low C i've found a 115 will have similar tension to a 100 gauge tuned to an E, as for the rest of your strings, you'll want the strings you usually would get in a 50-110 pack of Roto's or something like that....GHS do a Boomers pack which is 50-115...thats probably your best bet.

Or if you cant get hold of GHS's then a 5 string pack of 35-120 or similarly light should do you alright....however the bass will never be able to be tuned to E standard ha ha... hope this helps
