dclaassen Posted May 23, 2022 Share Posted May 23, 2022 I just acquired this "red knob" (I hear you giggling) Dual showman. The amp is not yet functional (but will be soon), but I tried the 4x12 cabinet and it sounds amazing. It's the "slant front" model, unvented, and has the original (Eminence?) speakers. Questions abound....this is a guitar amp, primarily, but I really long for that vintage valve sound. It should work as a bass head, right? And, yes, I know it's heavy, and I don't care. Also, we don't play at really high levels of gain, so I also don't think I'll blow a speaker. Or, I could just hand it over to a guitarist.....they love these things! beans-on-toast Posted May 23, 2022 Share Posted May 23, 2022 You like the sound, that’s all that’s important. ~ If you hear a mechanical flubbing sound from the speaker, back off the EQ or volume as you are pushing the speakers too hard. A 15 can pair with a 2x10 reasonably well but anything else puts the 15 at serious risk of failure.
