WITHDRAWN: Unlined fretless Jazz ("bitsa")
£450

Recommended Posts

Edit: Withdrawn, as I now have plans to sort out the body colour issue.

There's not any real need to sell this now, but it doesn't get used any more and so I'll leave it here in case it could benefit anyone with the the same playing but different colour preferences.

Originally bought on this forum, it's a WD Music neck (dots on both sides so a left-hander could presumably use it) with an ebony board on a body made by Ernie McMillen. The pickups are Villex passive (stacked volume, passive mid and treble cut) and although there's a panel on the back there's nothing underneath it. The strings currently fitted are LaBella Copper white nylon, .050-.105. With the light body and these low tension strings I've found very comfortable to play.

I discovered that a crackling neck pickup volume control seems to have been a loose wire - I'll have to re-solder this if I can find my soldering iron or borrow one [Edit: Fixed - see below]. Everything else seems to be in order.

Collection would be preferred so it can be tried; I'm working in Oxford and live in West Oxfordshire, and could perhaps meet somewhere or deliver for petrol money. If required to post it would probably have to be Parcelforce ; in this case I'd have to include a gig bag (to be taken into account if you want to make an offer). I had a bass come over from Japan in said bag without damage.

Please ask if you have any questions.

would you be thinking about splitting? Could be interested in neck and maybe strings?

Thanks for asking. I’d rather not at the moment, though.

Drop to £400, though if my other bass sells (see https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/342088-2004-japanese-jazz-feeler/) I'll withdraw this and try my hand at a respray in a colour I like.

Nice looking bass.

What’s under the scratchplate? Any big ugly routs?

Thanks. Here's what it looks like without the scratchplate:

This is a wonderful example of what must be the ultimate of its type. Even has 'ripples' on the surface as a vintage plate often exhibits.
Had it fitted as you can see on CS Jazz.
Cost around £250 - 300 landed from the US.
      Beauty.

Bass in the picture with plate fitted not included - view here to buy it.

Price drop to £1850 - grab a bargain.
I bought this last year from Goldbass via The Gallery. I really hoped my fat little fingers would get on with the beautifully shallow neck profile but sadly I am not getting the best from it.
Martin dates it at early 2000's and it is in amazing condition for a 15+ year old bass. One very small dent on the bottom of the front face - photo attached. Other than that it is immaculate.
Incredible build quality. Martin and John have an enviable ( and justified ) reputation and this one is a beaut.
      Specs:
Madrone Burl front and back, and matching peghead.
      Ash wings
Flame maple / Wenge 7 piece neck
Ebony board lined with Mahogany ( very subtle ), blue LED's on the fret lines
Bartolini MM pup with series / parallel switch
ABM piezo bridge with piezo preamp ( internal controls ) to balance output with mag pup - set and forget.
Schack 18v preamp with internal dips for BMT centres / boost, volume and blend. Tone controls work on both mag and piezo.
Gotoh tuners, dunlop strap locks. Strung with Daddario chromes.
Weight on my scales just over 8lbs
      Hiscox hard case.
Let me know if you need any more info.
Would trade for a Rob Allen 4 string fretless or other quality 4 string fretless - Sei, GB, Shuker, ACG, Sadowsky, Lull etc
      Thanks for looking.

      1978 Fender Jazz Bass.

Very good condition, includes original bridge cover, original scratch plate and screws, has had input jack replaced but will include original part.
      Case for illustrative purposes.

Genuine reason for sale as I've got 2 other Jazz basses (MIM/CS) and it's a shame that this gets used least, so I'm being sensible.
I'll be sad to see it go but I'd like someone else to get some use out of it.

Has recently been set-up and restrung by KGB in Birkenhead.

No rush to sell, looking for offers in the region of £2000 - you are welcome to try it in person, I'm local to Chester/M56.
Not really looking for PX, but never say never.

Can supply further pics and info on request.

Selling my Fender 60s Jazz Bass (Olympic White, Rosewood Neck). It's a great sounding bass with an authentic road worn look and in overall great condition! My collection is getting out of hand.. therefore i'm selling.
Classic Fender Jazz bass with timeless design elements. Off-set waist body, ultra-slim, fast-action neck and full-range Bi-Pole pickups. Many of the period-correct details that made the original Jazz basses so cool are spot-on replicated in this classic vintage-vibe beauty - especially the original offset waist, ultra-slim neck, and pair of vintage-style Alnico magnet Jazz Bass single-coil pickups.
One small dink on the neck (see pics) which doesn't effect playability. I removed the pick guard (I like the look without), which you can have with the bass.
Based in NW London, happy to ship UK wide for extra cash.

Selling my Corvette unlined Fretless 5.
Turns out I’m not as good at fretless playing as I imagined so this just isn’t getting used. A real shame but I have my eye on something else.

Made in Germany in 2008. Bubinga body, Ovangkol neck with ebony fingerboard, with minimal markings.
Natural oil finish and carefully treated weekly with the Warwick wax. (Included in sale)
Passive electronics with volume, pick-up blend and tone controls. I was very surprised by the variety of sounds that come out of those controls! MEC dynamic correction pups.

Currently strung with Rotosound 45-130 flatwounds.
      Weight is 6kg.
Includes Warwick Rockbag, surface finishing wax and truss rod tool.
