AndyTravis Posted December 9, 2017 Share Posted December 9, 2017 My best mate and his family just came back from France. He treated himself to a Uke while out there. He showed it to me today. I couldn’t believe this thing. it looked like a ping pong paddle and was made out of multiple ply with a sound hole on the back about an inch in diameter. When you play a note and move the uke, it has a wahwah effect - gimmicky but slick nonetheless. Very well put together. The sound was great - not hugely loud, but very clear and would work for recording. Interestingly, the fingerboard and top were all from the same sheet of ply. Cool item, not cheap at €130, but I must say it was lovely. And I’m already thinking they should do a bass uke version. I recently heard a small handbuilt ukulele, made by some chap not too far from me It had a really tiny, shallow body, but I was amazed at how loud it was, considering this....
