Hi

I'm offering my Lakland Shoreline Glaub for sale. This is a a very recent acquisition, I bought it having waited & waited for a used USA Glaub to come up for sale. Needless to say, within week of springing for the Shoreline, a damn USA Glaub came up & I snagged it. As a result I probably need to sell the Shoreline so it's here for £100 less than I paid.

Lakland Shoreline basses are made in the ESP Japan factory & according to Mr Lakin they were introduced in 2004 to address 2 basic problems with the existing Lakland basses; due to tariffs USA Laklands were outrageously expensive in Japan and Korean instruments were viewed as inferior by our Japanese cousins. The Shoreline range was meant to offer near USA quality for a domestic instrument price. Now I've read some right old bunkum about the Shorelines, this is not the equal of a USA Lakland - no matter what anyone tells you. Its is a step up from a Skyline though & in terms of quality & appointments sits closer to the USA line of basses.

So here's some specs;

Alder body (Skylines are ash only)
Flat sawn maple neck
Twin graphite rods
Rosewood 'board
Maple fret dots
44mm Bone nut
Lakland dual bridge (thru body or normal stringing)
Hipshot Lic Ultralights
Fralin or Seymour J & P pickups (not sure which on this one - leave that with me)
VVT controls

The serial number would date the bass to 2005. There is some yellowing of the finish evident and the previous owner used stainless rounds on it so there is some fret wear at the business end. I have pictured the worst of this but the bass plays great & I can't see this requiring any attention for a long, long time. The general condition is excellent, a few tiny marks here & there, too small to photograph though. No missing finish & no cracks, even around the neck pocket. Overall build quality is near faultless, as you would expect.

The bass is strung with fresh Chromes & sounds like a great old-school P bass should, fat, round & sweet. The J pickup adds the trademark honk you would expect.

If you want an eye opener, follow this link where you'll find the only Shoreline Glaub still made is 400,000 yen - which is £2963. Seriously! Now you'd have to be Radio Rental to pay that for one but it gives you an idea of the standard of these bases.

Bass comes with the Shoreline gig bag. Happy to ship at your expense & risk, I will pack it very well. Alternatively you are welcome to come to sunny Teesside & give it a whirl. No trades thanks, if this doesn't sell I won't be heartbroken, just a bit skint.
