From the state of the boxes in the pic looks like they were damaged in the post.[/quote]

The details say that they are buzzing around the 8th fret. There was no mention of a truss rod in the details. My thought was that a classical guitar for £17 including p&p is cheap, but probably only for people who know what they are doing so that any problems can be fixed.

I've played classical as a side to bass for 8 years (i'm still rubbish!) and have found that most cheaper classicals have no truss rod due to the strings not putting on as much pressure, this is why idiots that put steel strings on em often end up with completely ruined guitars. :)

I got my main classical from oxfam in sheffield for the princely sum of £25! It had steel strings on it (well 2 steel strings...) and needed a lot of attention. Had it up and running within a week and it's actually got really stable over the years. I picked it up the other day and it had stayed in tune for over 2 days! Did some research and found out it's a Finnish made guitar from the seventies

Another thing is that most cheap classicals buzz above the 8th fret and are very hard to play above the 5th! If these guitars have decent fingerboards (as opposed to painted ones) they could be ok

I dream that one day I might find a real bargain in a charity or other shop. Maybe someday.

Without a truss rod, fixing fret buzz isn't something I'd even consider doing. Though, this youtube video makes it look easy. Yeah, the guy fixing the guitar just grabs a piece of wood and makes a new bridge saddle out of it.

There was also an old violin in the charity shop which had sold for the same price. I took the guitar into the music shop down the road and the assistant said a guy had just brought the violin in and that it was in decent nick (just no strings and needed cleaning up plus some minor work) and was worth a couple of hundred.
Not really my bag but just goes to show!
