James Nada Posted January 31, 2016 Share Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) Does anyone use these flatwounds on their Hofner Violin or Club bass? I see they come in two gauges- .039 and .050. I am wondering which are closest in tension* on a Hofner to my preference for medium guage on a Precision. General views on these strings welcomed. *I'm aware that my use of the term "tension" is not technically correct. Happy Jack Posted January 31, 2016 Share Posted January 31, 2016 All the vintage Hofners that I've owned have had either Pyramids or Thomastiks fitted, but having played mainly Precisions fitted with LaBella FLs for several years, I now wish I'd tried using the LaBella Beatle Bass strings at least once!
