Microphonic lead - why?

What is the main reason for a guitar lead to suddenly go microphonic?It's been fine for months and now,every move I make comes through lead and clear through my amp.Earthing problem possibly?

Most likely a break in the shielding. You could spend ages trying to track it down. I'd advise ditching and getting a new one.

If the plugs are ok then you could just buy some cable and make yourself a new one.

I'm not an expert, but microphonics are normally caused by movement of the conductors, which are generally held tightly in place by the plastic around them. If it's happened suddenly, I'd guess at the cable having been stretched. If you want to avoid buying a new one, cut a foot of cable off the end that's microphonic and resolder the plug.

Take the plugs off, then ditch the cable. Solder the plugs onto a length of new cable and try not to run over it with the castors on your cab, like this numpty did.
Don't twist your cables, when you need to coil them and don't stretch them.
I spent yesterday afternoon making new leads with old plugs, after picking up Russian radio stations the other night.

Had the same problem with my old GYC cables. Switched to Klotz cables and I`ve haven`t heard anything from my amp, except the bass since.
