Number6 Posted March 25, 2014 Share Posted March 25, 2014 A friend of mine is cutting me a brass scratchplate for my bass (Vintage V96 musicman copy) and i just wondered if i would need to ground it out given that its metal? icastle Posted April 1, 2014 Share Posted April 1, 2014 If you're using a metal jack socket then it'll earth the scratchplate at the same time (the threaded 'tube' is 'earth' anyway). If you're going to do that then I'd recommend using a dap of thread lock on the socket before doing the nut up - after all, if it shakes loose then you've got no earth.
