sifi2112 Posted July 1, 2008 Share Posted July 1, 2008 Looking to put 4 speakers in an empty cab .. 2 x Eminence Kappa Pro 10A (500w) & 2 x Eminence Gamma 10A (300w) all are 8Ohm thinking of wiring 1 Kappa to 1 Gamma (series = 16Ohm) (2x) then wiring in parallel to go back to 8Ohm .. (powered by Warwick Tubepath 10.1 1000w @ 4Ohm) apart from obvious wattage difference is there any reason why I can't / shouldn't do this ? cheers Simon Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The thermally limited power handling may be high but the excursion limited power handling (basically Xmax) is very low, which equals farting at low volume with even moderate amounts of bottom. Both of these drivers are marginal at best for bass. They're popular with both DIYers and manufacturers due to their high power ratings, but high power alone does not a good bass driver make. sifi2112 Posted July 1, 2008 Author Share Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) Well I'm getting the Kappa's reconed & the Gamma's are already in a 2x10 cab (& actually sound pretty good by themselves) .. that cab might be going so I'm already looking at other speakers .. ideally would wanna mix with the Kappa's but not essential .. any recommendations ? Don't really wanna buy a new cab to go with my Warwick head (unless I manage to sell my Bongo) .. really like the Berg NV610 (but not the price ! lol) So .. if you had an empty 4x10 cab .. what speakers would you put in ? combined with 2 x Celestion BN10-300x perhaps ?
