lownote Posted October 26, 2013 Share Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) I have just bought a Hohner B Bass Pro IV with a Steinberger type bridge. This isn't the one for the headless basses - apart from the dropped E it's almost conventional. What I need to know is what the dropped E mechanism is like inside. As I changed strings, out of the E string channel dropped a piece of metal about an inch (25mm) long and maybe 4mm wide and side. It has like a hook one end and a shiny ramp at the other. But I have no idea what it does. Does it go over or under the string and which way round? Many thanks if you can help. Metal bit in pic above fits the other way up from the pic (channel facing downwards) in the E string 'tunnel' in the bridge. It fits over a a little pin and rests on top of the string. Then the dropped E lever works out. Cool. Stil have no idea what it does but at least it does it. Love a plan when it comes together.
