gafbass02 Posted June 6, 2008 Share Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) Im about to start experimenting with looping as im getting an RC20 for my birthday, and was looking at an EHX POG to go with it, but then i started to wonder about the digitech Whammy, which do you guys reckon would be the better idea?, doe the whammy work ok with bass?, and what type of PSU will it need? Alun Posted June 7, 2008 Share Posted June 7, 2008 I have a POG and Micro POG and both are fantastic. They do however only do octaves, no other intervals so may or may not meet your harmony needs. Those octave sounds are though, to my ears anyway, much more "real" sounding than the Whammy tones. The Whammy does however allow you to do all the swoopy pitch shift effects too, which the POGs don't - the processed note is there or it isn't, there's no "transition" . The POG and Whammy come with PSUs, the Micro POG will run off a big standard Boss/Zoom, etc 9V adaptor. None take batteries as far as I know. I found the Micro POG much more bass friendly because you have control over the volume level of octave up and octave down individually. The Whammy is quite a different beast though. Nothing else is as good at being a Whammy pedal, so if that is what you want, then get it. However, the harmony/octave settings are for the most part not very 'natural' IMO.
