Description:
The ’51 has acquired a notoriety amongst modders due to its high quality construction, unusual features and excellent playability. Featuring a Strat body, Tele neck, Tele pickguard, Tele Neck pickup (replaced) and Bridge Humbucker this guitar can be anything you fancy, as evidenced at this site [CLICK HERE].
I intended to go to town on it but after replacing the weak neck pickup with a Seymour Duncan JB-1 I stopped as there was nothing else required; it sounded and played amazingly.
It plays incredibly and really feels like the best of Fender’s range in one guitar, with richness and quack in equal measure. Its wired with a Volume and Pickup Selector but the second knob is also a push/pull switch with a coil tap, facilitating the most Tele of Tele sounds right next to the fuller JB neck PU. Fender recently saw the potential with this guitar so have rereleased it with an astronomical price!

Crackly jack socket needs looking at but you won’t need to pay a professional to spray some servisol on it.

Actually it's just the bridge as its currently wired but the JB1 does allow for an easy coil tap if you've got 10 minutes and a soldering iron or know a guy.

There's some great accessories available including some predrilled and (I think) prewired plates (available at the above forum link). There was an assortment of pickguards at Guitar Fetish but I've not been recently so I don't know if that's still the case.
