symcbass
Interested in these cabs, but never heard them. How are the mids with these? and what's your overall opinion of them tonewise? Cheers, Sy. Edited January 8, 2013 by symcbass
brick
mid wise i would say not as middy as the mark bass cab i had but def a hell of a lot better than the aguilar gs112 cabs i had. these cabs sounds great imo, if you want an idea of how they sound this vid is fairly helpful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bNZN6hWHeU
symcbass
Sounds interesting. Were you running a pair of GS112's? I'm running a GS 412 at present and find it a bit mid scooped for my double bass, and was toting with the idea of running 2 focus 410's. In direct contrast to the Aguilar cabs, how do they differ tonewise? And how does the focus handle volume? On paper it's sensitivity looks quite healthy. Thanks, Sy. brick
yeah was running the 2 gs112s, would say the genz cab doesnt colour your sound where as the aguilar cabs affect the sound greatly (as youve mentioned) with a mid scoop, about the best way to describe it is that its a more of a neutral sound in comparison to the aguilar. Ive only ever had to push the master on my amp to half way a few times with this cab and it handled fine and didnt start to distort or anything Edited January 9, 2013 by brick
bigthumb
These are VERY good cabs. And even for non Neo cabs their not too heavy. The sound is 'neutral' with maybe a little on the mids. They cut through lovely. I've owned quite a few of the 'top' brands including Genz Neox, Eden, EA, EBS, Aguilar etc. and these are pretty much up there with them. The whole range of the Focus cabs is superb. My 1x15 is a great stand alone cab being light weight, compact and sounds nothing like the 15" cabs of yesteryear. It sounds bright, punchy and articulate even without the tweeter on. Build quality is excellent, certainly comparable to my old Neox 2x12 and every other quality cab I've owned. Brand new prices are great value for money, second hand prices are a gift!
