niceguyhomer Posted January 6, 2013 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I was going to treat myself to a small practice combo but tried my bass plugged into an old Peavey monitor instead and it sounds plenty good and loud enough for me. Guest bassman7755 Posted January 7, 2013 Share Posted January 7, 2013 A lot of cheap powered monitors have have hugely inflated power handling specs, if it doesn't specifically say "rms" then you can treat the power rating as pure fiction. bassmayhem Posted January 8, 2013 Share Posted January 8, 2013 I used an active Mackie 350 (?) with a 10" speaker a whole summer for outdoor theater gigs. It worked very well.
