It is an underfoot system, where you put the pickups under the feet of your bridge, and attach the preamp to the strings. It has volume and tone control for easy on-stage adjustment. It is a great sound for a pickup, in my opinion picking up more detail than other similar pickups, because it picks up the sounds going through the treble side of the bridge as well as the bass side.
