halp! Just bought a Hohner B2a from fleabay and think it's broke

Wouldn't be so negative yet, you've got a few suggestions, tick them off as they're done. And Hohner may well come up with something that's so damn obvious that no-one else thought of it.
Tell them the story, that you think maybe you were robbed on Ebay, so haven't the cash to go buying a new pre-amp & wanted to know what else it could be before you had to bite the bullet.

Many years ago, I had a tranny Marshall 100w head. When it started to go iffy I phoned Marshall, sent it to them. They serviced it back to as new condition, replaced all of the knobs as a matter of routine, & IIRC I paid about £35. There are still some good guy companies out there; Hohner could well be one of them.
