AKG D190E microphone - SOLVED

A query for vintage owners of vintage microphones. I've got one of these and it's not bad for what it is but its value is mostly sentimental. The problem is that the XLR connector has popped out of the barrel and I don't know how it's supposed to be secured - there aren't any grub screws on the barrel.

AKG referred me to the local (Czech) distributors but the language barrier is a bit tricky. Can anyone advise?

EDIT: After being told by the local distributor that the part is no longer available, I found out from AKG that it is in fact still available. Now on order :)

The outer barrel does appear to be a separate part but no idea how to dismantle it.

The D190ES has the switch - this is just the plain old E.

So you are an Englishman in Czech Republic and you don't speak local language. What about local guys who could help you? Have you tried contacting either AKG technical support, or locally this guy: [url="http://www.akg.com/site/distributoren/powerslave,id,74,nodeid,28,_language,EN.html"]http://www.akg.com/s...anguage,EN.html[/url] ? I don't think that he does not speak English. You could send him an e-mail with a photo, or even call him. You can also browse through service manuals on akg.com and look for similar microphones (service manual for D 190 is missing there).

Vy jste čech? Mluvím trochu česky - ale špatně! I did write to Audiomaster some time ago but they couldn't help.

Not sure why I didn't think of it before but I've just been looking at the AKG forum. Apparently the connector is held in by a spring clip which must have sprung off into the void when my clumsy band-mate tripped over the cable. I've now got the part number (still available 3 years ago and hopefully still now) and will try to get hold of one.

I did find one guy there who spoke English who put me through to a guy who understood broken Czech. Ordered the parts more than 2 months ago and nothing yet. They don't return my calls either. I'm now harassing them by e-mail. Useless.

Thanks but that was my thread from ages ago. I finally got them to phone back yesterday only to find out that the parts are no longer available :( They just hadn't bothered to tell me before.
