The pedal is effectively mechanical. I use one of these as my get-out-of-jail pedal with my entire pedal board running through the loop. In the event of any sort of signal failure (duff pedal, duff patch cable, power supply fried, punter's lager thrown over the whole thing, whatever) I can just stomp once and bypass the lot.
