aguilar tonehammer 500

[color=#000000][font=verdana, geneva, lucida,]just got an Aguilar Tonehammer 500 to replace my little mark 11. Gigged it at the weekend and very happy with the tone. A much tighter low end and it cut through the mix better than the little mark 11. However I had a problem getting a similar level of volume from the Aguilar as I do from the little mark 11. Every time i reached the desired volume level, the clip light would come on. Any recommendations?. I play in a rock band so our volume requirements tend to be on the loud side. I am using 2 little mark 15 cabs so that is 4 ohm so I should be sucking the full 500 watts form the tonehammer[/font][/color]

Hey IntrepidCellist: Not so. It indicates that the preamp is clipping. You can clip all you want on the Tone Hammer 500. You may not like the sound of it clipping; but nothing bad will happen to the amp. It will not turn off or go thermal or break in any way. The light is just telling you what you will probably be hearing anyway.

Somebody playing hard may make the clip light turn on when hitting peaks.
If you want it remain cleaner sounding, you can change the gain structure by turning on the input pad.
