JL Hyperdrive or Boss ODB3?

Hi All, I've been through a couple of dozen dirt boxes in the last year or so, and am sort of happy with the James Lomenzo box at the moment. I've suddenly realised I've played just about everything except the Boss ODB3. Are they any good for just adding a little bit of grit?

No, The ODB-3 is poor at adding just a touch of grit IMO. However, if you are happy with the James Lorenzo box then I suspect that your "bit of grit" may be a bit more than my "bit of grit".

It also cuts mids significantly, which is bad news in terms of cutting through with a band

I suggest that you try an ODB-3 out. They are pretty much everywhere after all.

which cuts mids, the J-Lo or ODB3?

I have my ODB set with the low control quite high and the high control quite low, giving me a big bottom boost for choruses and the heaviest of riffs. It doesn't seem to cut any mids?

The J-Lo apparently just distorts mids leaving lows and highs clean, which would give you plenty of control to boost mids rather than cutting.
